THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION'S ERROR
It's going to be one busy schedule during the festive week for Manchester United. The red devils are registered to play a couple of games this coming december and it’s would usually not be a situation that would grab anyone's attention but I thought the fans should know the implications of this scheduled game in december. The red devils have started the current season very well by playing stellar football, scoring two goals a game and losing just two games so far in all competition, which have made Manchester United take a deserving position in the top four spot on the table in the Premier League and the Champions league competition. Manager Jose Mourinho has openly admitted in the beginning of the current season that the Red Devils main goal this season was to rejuvenate the clubs hunger to win every title in as much competition as Manchester United find themselves in. The Premier league and UEFA Champions league competition are two major competition the red devils are currently involved in and at the moment the red devils are sitting in second place in the group stage of the Champions League and Second place in the Premier league Table. Talk about living up to expectation. But it has not all been a walk in the park getting to top four in both the premier League and the Champions League competitions. There have been hard, unexpected losses for the Red Devils against teams like FC Basel in the Champions League which has left United 100% certain of qualification to the next stage of the Champions League but Mourinho still remains confident that his team will have no problems making it through to the next stage of the Champions league competition and at the same time, looks like Mourinho's United's squad will not be intimidated by Manchester City's early lead in the Premier league and can still mount a title challenge as the season progresses.
But that’s not the reason for todays
Blog. In todays blog, I will like to discuss the upcoming strenuous schedule this december that will undoubtedly cost not just the united players their Holiday vacation away from their
families but will also cost Manchester United's carrington staff members their holiday vacation away from their families as well. And this is not the first
time Manchester United have been faced with this sought of situation. During
sir Alex Ferguson era united were constantly scheduled to play during the holidays and the reason is simple, Ticket sales. Over the past few years,
Manchester United has always had horrible luck when the christmas period.
During the Ferguson era, the red devils were consistently scheduled to play in
the week of christmas and the record stretched down to at least three years in a
row, where Manchester United will either find themselves playing either in the
week of Christmas or on Christmas day exactly. One of the problems Manchester
United is that it leaves the players with little or no time to enjoy with their
families and this might affect the attitude of the team heading into the game. The
biggest part of the schedule change that affects Manchester United is the impact it will have on the Carrington staff members. At the moment, Carrington Headquarters currently holds a total average of 681 employees working to make
sure that coach Mourinho and his players are always attended to for each and
every need, during practice sessions, feeding time, warm ups in the gyms,
cleaning the players lockers, e.t.c. It’s hard work to make sure the players
are attended to. So, would it not be fair to award these lovely men and women
the well deserved Christmas break they each deserve. During the 99 to 2012
Manchester United campaign when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge of the Red
Devils, the Red Devils had numerous seasons where United had to play at least
two games in the week of Christmas and sometimes United were scheduled to play
on christmas day, which left the staffs with no choice but to spend the
holidays away from their families.
To conclude this post, I’ll pop a
question to anyone with any affiliation or interest in football and the question
is: Why would The FA make any football team play a game during the holidays away from their friends and families when the schedule can easily be moved to the
upcoming week or so? If the schedules were changed to assure each club they
will be no games during the holidays, everyone gets to enjoy the holidays, teams
turn up for the games refreshed and ready for to take on any opponent. This uncomfortable holiday scheduling does not just apply to Manchester United alone, teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton have had similar situations where they were scheduled to play on christmas week or worse on christmas day. So, why should manchester United's situation be any different? It should not! This should apply to any football club to be honest. However, as a football fan and sports blogger and a Manchester United spectator, I feel the need to call attention to
any unfair match scheduling happening in sports, especially one that affects the staffs involved with the Red Devils and kindly request that maybe the FA
should look into the case and find a possible solutions to the situation.
