MANCHESTER UNITED IN DANGER OF LOOSING THEIR IDENTITY
Manchester United might as well dawn a nickname as the headliners. Yes the club that just can not seem to stay out of the papers just keep toping the sports section in the papers quite frequently in most recent times. Usually as a Manchester United supporter you tend get used to the frequent reality that your cherrish club is bond to be on the papers and like most cases the news is bond to take the form of a negetive sought of variety these days. Reading news that seem to be a bit of controversy rather than possitivity seems to be the montra for todays press when circulating news about one of the most populer football club today. But then again, who can blame the press for chossing the controversial route when reporting about Manchester United?
The truth is : Controversy sells newspapers.
Controversy truelly does sell papers indeed and any other day, the average Manchester United surppotter will be advised to operate with the idea of not believing everything you read on the Newspapers or not to believe anything you see reported on the television. However, two recent issues making its way around the web have clearly got the attention of the masses and should be talked about even if for just a brief minute or two. One news Has to do with last week November news that covered the traggic story about a reporter who was killed in parts of Saudi Arabia recently. While condolences go out to everyone affected by the tragidy and while this plateform tries to make sure that the topics delivered here remains solely on sports, i.e football to be specific, one aspect of this traggidy has peaked the Manchester United communitys interest.
The daily mail uk earlier last week attempted to suggest that because Manchester United has strong bussiness relations with Saudi Arabia, Manchester United could be suspected to be involved in in some way or the other with the unfortunate dissapearance of the Saudi Arabian Jounalist Jamal Khashoggi. While the bussiness alligence between Manchester United and Saudi Arabia might exist with Manchester United said to still be considering a bussiness deal which will create a co-ownership of Manchester United football club with Saudi Arabia, concluding that Manchester United could have been with the incident sound a bit presumption a bit presumptions. Even at this moment, the daily mail has also suggested that Manchester United have abruptly declined huge money offers by Saudi Arabia to sell to the club. Sounds a bit far fetch to suggest that one of the most populous club in the world whose merchendise sale elevates more frequently than none was willing to sell the club and therefore were welcoming offers from Saudi Arabias elite.
In other news, Manchester United youth talent, Tabith Chong, was listed in the twenty two men squad that were available for last weeks UEFA Champions match against Juventus. Chong did not feature in the match last week and looking back at the way last weeks match developed and the way the match concluded against Manchester Uniteds favour, most people might agree that the circumstance Manchester United found themselves in against Juventus was not the best sittuation for any young Manchester United player to make any possitive impact on the game. Tabith Chong is definately one fanstatic young talent and if Jose Mourinho adding Chongs name into last weeks thirthy man squad for the Champions League game is any indication, Tabith Chong will surely have an oppotunity to make his M However, adding the young dutch man in the team to make his first ever debut for Manchester United would had such devastating efffects on the young mans growth as a footballer. Last weeks UEFA Champions match was simply an unforseen setback as a result of a difficult match but Tabith Chongs moment to make the first team for Manchester United might simply be right around the corner and a number of Manchester United fans will be eager to see him given the oppotunity.
The bad news just can not stop pouring in for Manchester United this past month of August. From barely escaping the situation of being roped into a drastic scandal involving Saudi Arabia to dropping two big teams in Europe, Chelsea in the Premier League to loosing to Juventus in the ever so important first leg of the UEFA Champions League Group stage. Life must have seemed a little bleak for the Manchester United community this past month. To compound to the few problems already surrounding the club at the moment, rumors have once again surfaced suggesting that Jose Mourinho is in danger of losing his position as Manchester United manager come January 2019. Not the greatest moment to be a Manchester United fan.
One of the two bright spot to be found from the UEFA Champions League game against Juventus is that Manchester United ended the match with a single goal loss. Yes, Manchester United were simply outplayed and outclassed for substantial periods of the game. However, the fact that Juventus played good attacking football for large periods of the match does not neccessarily mean that Manchester United were not handed moments to create goal scoring oppotunities. Judging from the statistics report gotten from the first leg match against Juventus in the Champions League, Yes Manchester had 39% of the ball but out of the %39 ball possession Manchester United had, Manchester United had a total of 6 shots at Juventus goal and missed all.
Compared to Juventus %61 ball possession and the 14 shots Juventus had at Manchester Uniteds goal, you get the sense that the match was not completely a one way traffic headed Juveentus way. So here is the question, if Manchester United lacked a few more quality in the midfield to compete, why not substitute two good defensive and attacking players in Fred and Andreas Periera to complement Paul Pogba in competing with Juventus midfield?
Frankly, mentioning the absense of Marouane Fellaini as a reason for the bellow par performance in the Champions League match against Juventus is just a distraction. A distraction to remove the fact that Jose Mourinho's first motive is to get Manchester United to play the way Mourinho wants instead of Manchester United playing the clubs usual attacking style of football which suits the club best.
How can Jose Mourinho change the mood surrounding Manchester United football club at the moment? Play good football against Bournemouth. Bournemouth is heading to Old Trafford on the backs of some really good result recently. Led by Eddie Howe, Bournemouth has started the season in good fashion winning five out their last nine matches and accumulating only two losses, with two draws, scoring a totally of 16 goals and conceding 12 goals in this early stage in the season. The season might still be in the early stages but Bournemouth manager Eddie Howie is showing that they just might be the early birds intent on claiming a spot far away from the middle of table come end of the season.
Returning back on the topic of Manchester United, a victory against Bournemouth will surely help the Red Devil close the gap against the clubs fierce rivals Manchester City who appear not to have missed a beat on picking up right where they left off last season. Manchester City has already reclaimed top spot in the Premier League table leaving Manchester United wallowing behind in 9th place with a nine-point gab between Manchester United and the Premier League table leaders. Should Manchester United fail to record a win a victory against Bournemouth this weekend and should Manchester City subsiquently win against Southampton this samr weekend, an 12 point gap in the Premier League table between Manchester United and top of the table team Manchester City will be a very difficult gap to close regardless of what stage in the current season.
Three points against Bournemouth has to be a certainty for Manchester United this weekend!
