MANCHESTER UNITED READY TO SUCCEED THIS UPCOMING SEASON ?
The McGuire show continues on for a couple more days as far as Manchester United is concerned. The Red Devils completed a massive 97 million pound deal for the 26-year-old English defender this summer and the club appears thrilled to have the English defender on board.
The signing has quickly been deemed one of the biggest record fees for a defender and considering the knowledge that Harry McGuire is only 26 years old, Harry McGuire has also propelled himself as one of the most expensive, youngest, defender in Europe at the moment. All through the summer of 2019, from April until the current month of August, Manchester United had made their pursuit of Leicester City defender known with Manchester United manager, Ole Gunner Solskjaer, making his intentions to improve his Manchester United defense throughout the entire summer transfer window known emphatically. During the early parts of the 2019 summer transfer window, Manchester United appeared to be prepared to end their pursuit for Harry McGuire after numerous rumors continued to link the Red Devils to other defenders such as Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan and Tottenham's Jan Vertongan, Manchester United have finally filled the long, overdue, open position of a defensive leader on the field for Manchester United.
With Manchester United finally locking in their center back target in Harry McGuire, the question can be asked, is that the end of the summer signings for Manchester United and if so does the present Manchester United with the inclusion of the new signings make Manchester United title contenders this upcoming season? Difficult to say. The reality, as difficult as the truth might be to hear from a Manchester United perspective is that Manchester United appear to have taken the stance of ending their activities regarding the Transfer window especially with the transfer window set to close this weekend. Manchester United was undoubtedly on track to securing one last signing in a Bruno Fernandes or Paulo Dybala in the middle weeks of July with Manchester United reportedly willing to offer amounts as high as 58 million for the services of just Bruno Fernandes and an improved swap deal involving striker Romelu Lukaku for attacker Paulo Dybala.
As July ultimately ran on and on until the last day of the month, the possibility of Manchester United completing either deal, not to mention both deals, began to look bleak at best for the Red Devils. The official news for the weekend in regards to the transfer window is that Manchester United have pulled out of both deals involving Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes after both clubs opted for a deal with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs instead. The news comes as a major blow for Manchester United who had their mindset on rebuilding their team strength with the addition of both Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes in the mix.
With merely a few days before the summer transfer window comes to a halt, manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer was reportedly still attempting to pull off one last rabbit out of the heart in a bid worth 60 million and over for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen. Eriksen has been rumored to want a way out of the Tottenham Stadium has he searches for a new challenge away from Tottenham next season. There is still no definite signs to suggest Manchester United can pull off any deal before the transfer window officially comes to an end this weekend. However, during the period when Tottenham Hotspur was optimistic about completing another quality midfielder for highly-rated Argentine midfielder Giovani De Salso for 55.4 million from Spanish club Celta Vigo, Manchester United had a massive opportunity to go into Tottenham and secure the signature of a want-away star such as Christian Eriksen but with the Transfer window over, Manchester United failed to pull a miracle to get the Eriksen deal done by the end of the weekend. Should Manchester United had secured the signature of not just Christian Eriksen but of any creative midfielder really Manchester United will have stood a better chance of succeeding at the end of the current season.
After the Red Devils failed to secure the services of at least one top midfielder this summer there is no denying that Ole Gunner Solskjears men will undoubtedly be faced with yet another difficult season trying to fulfill the demand of being a creative Manchester United team that delivers an average of two goals a game for the entire 2019/20 season. Realistically, should a well-conducted analysis be taken based on how creative the Manchester United team can be this season the ratio will stand at 6:30 at best. That means six players will be relied on to be the driving force to lead Manchester United to victory this season. Six creative players in an entire team are not enough to result in success in such high stakes competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League. Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer was asked earlier this week if he had any thoughts in regards to Manchester United's expectations given how the club had made little movement in the recent 2019 summer transfer window and Ole Gunner Solskjaer had responded by basically saying he has faith in the squad and the players to be promoted from the youth system.
In theory, Manchester United appears to have an abundance of talent in their youth system but realistically, it’s a difficult situation promoting young talent and expecting these young players to lead the club to success on the first try. However, with the current squad, 4th place finishes in the Premier League and winning the Europa League competition is a possibility for Manchester United when the current season comes to an end.
