MANCHESTER UNITED TO FACE FUTURE OBSTACLES DURING THE 2020 SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW

Longer transfer windows set to be enforced on the Premier League effective this 2020 summer transfer window.

The English Premier League panel in conjunction with FIFA panel of directors have both come to a mutual agreement regarding the extent of the European summer transfer window with both parties agreeing to extend the duration of the summer transfer window for the main purpose of granting clubs involved in the Premier League, cubs in the Spanish La Liga, clubs in the Serie A and other leagues around the world sufficient extended period to complete all transfers each clubs have on hand.

The extension of the transfer window deadline will be one welcomed by the elite six clubs in the Premier League Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United as majority of the six clubs as well as the remaining 16 clubs in the Premier League competition continue to remain unsettled with the current length of the summer transfer window. In the recent past, Manchester United, in particular, has shown signs of struggle in completing big money moves during recent past summer transfer windows.  Granted Manchester United's inability to secure top-class players has largely been pinned to the unwillingness to invest exorbitant funds towards the transfer window.

Nevertheless, some of Manchester United's' failure to secure the signatures of top-class players have also come down to negotiation agreements between Manchester United and other clubs failing to materialize as early as expected.

Manchester United appear to be a club that most clubs around Europe intend to do business with during each transfer window but not to have the traditional rapid open and shut business usually conducted in the transfer window, on the contrary, Manchester United have become one of the few big clubs that other clubs want to be linked within the transfer window primarily for marketing and attention purposes.

Over the past two years, during both the January transfer and the summer transfer window the one commonality between transfer rumors connecting most clubs in Europe appears to be the name Manchester United rumored to be interested in signing one or two players from different varieties of clubs in Europe.

Should this situation unfold the subsequent result has been observed to be what the ManchesterUnitedPost can describe as the Manchester United effect. The Manchester United effect simply put is the subsequent effect that occurs in the transfer window when the massive reputation Manchester United have built for themselves automatically inflates the price negotiation attached to each and any deal Manchester United is intent on sealing.

With inflation in effect, the ensuing result sees Manchester United roped up in a single negotiation carrying on for weeks or months were Manchester United attempt talk down the original price leaving the Red Devils little time to complete any other deal scheduled to be secured by Manchester United. With the upcoming Summer transfer window set to be extended past the current August 8 deadline and instead extend the new deadline to September 1, what this might lead to is a situation where Manchester United will welcome new signing s but Manchester United managers are faced with the complex task of fitting newly signed player into a  system already in place close to a complete month into the new season.

As the English Premier League observers, especially Manchester United fans, can attest to the Red Devils have a history of getting themselves involved in massive business deals which ends up taking almost the entire length of the transfer window to complete. A typical example of lengthy transfer deals the Red Devils have been involved in was the completion of Paul Pogbas' move from Juventus to Manchester United.

The negotiation between Manchester United and Juventus was made clear at the start of the 2016 summer transfer window and the deal was expected to be completed by the middle of the 2016 summer window but with both clubs unable to arrive at an early understanding on a transfer fee, the deal eventually went down to the wire with Manchester United signing the French midfielder but the Red Devils were left with the aftermath of having little to no time to complete any other subsequent deals.

With the news of the summer transfer window deadline for leagues outside of England extended to almost an extra month, top six clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and a host of other clubs in the English Premier League will have the opportunity to still sign players from the Bundesliga, the La Liga, the Serie A e.t.c even after the doors are shut on the English Premier League transfer window is closed.

As already stated, Manchester United in the past three years have been observed to be a club that struggles to complete major deals with clubs outside of England mainly due to the reason that some of the deals the Red Devils are involved with tend to be situations where Manchester United are intent on signing a player that plays a massive role in the other club which ends up dragging a single deal to such a lengthy period leaving the Red Devils and most clubs in England little to no time to complete other deals.

The news of the transfer window deadline extended until September 1 will certainly provide Manchester United with a few extra days to make a few more improvements to the squad by signing players who can improve the performance of the team on match days. Moreover, the news of the transfer window deadline extension will also more time to sell players with talents which Manchester United understands will be more efficient in some other club.

However, the one clear downturn to the extension of the transfer deadline is, as already mentioned, signing and moving players in and out of Old Trafford leaves the manager with setting a stable strategy that will bring the best out of the team before the season and the jury is still out as to how beneficial the new extension will benefit Ole Gunner Solskjaer should Manchester United choose to sign players around the new September 1 transfer window deadline.
