DERBY DAY
After the demoralizing
exit from the Europa League in the hands of arch rival Liverpool on Thursday
Manchester United will be heading into the Manchester Derby to with a broken
team in more ways than one. First off,
Manchester United is still having trouble with some important players still out
of the starting line up. One of the most
important players missing in today's line up is Old Trafford's legendary striker
Wayne Rooney.

ROONEY TARGETING COMEBACK FROM INJURY
Wayne Rooney is
hoping to make his Manchester United comeback soon after the Easter
period.
Although
the skipper will miss this week's games against Liverpool and Manchester City, plus England's
internationals with Germany and the Netherlands, he is optimistic of being
available again in April.
The
striker suffered a knee injury during the defeat at Sunderland on 13 February but is making
strides in his recovery after taking a break to help aid his
rehabilitation.
"Everything
is going as planned," he told reporters at the announcement of a new global sponsorship with Gulf Oil
Internationalhttp://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Mar/Wayne-Rooney-reveals-target-date-for-injury-comeback-at-gulf-oil-partnership-announcement.aspx?utm_source=google&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ManUtd at the Aon Training Complex. "Rehab is going well but,
hopefully, it won't be too long.
"I
don't know [when I will return]. Obviously, I will miss the international games
but, hopefully, it won't be too long. It's not too bad but obviously it's [a
case of] just being a bit cautious. It's difficult to push back. If I tried to
push it to be involved now, it could cause more damage. So, being cautious,
after the international break is more realistic.
"I
am hoping that, if I am back when I am expected to be back, depending on the
two cups we are in, then there could be over 10 games left plus the England games.
"I was
saying before it has been eight games that I have missed. I didn't realise it
was that many so it's obviously really frustrating. Myself, the manager and the
doctor felt it was best for me to get a bit of rest and that is why I went
away. That will do me good in the coming weeks."

Rooney has missed the past
few weeks of matches due to the knee injury he suffered during the loss to
Sunderland earlier this season and the recent update Rooney provided has
established that the England and Manchester United captain is still scheduled
to be out till april and with Rooney known around Manchester for scoring in the
Manchester derby it’s obvious that his absence will be agonizing for
Manchester United club and fans around the world.
So what does this
mean for the team? First, the team has to be more creative and attentive in today's game especial considering
the rivalry between both teams and also considering the fact that Manchester
United is missing important players due to injury so Manchester City will be
keen on Capitalizing on the teams low moral after the loss to Liverpool so the
best thing for Manchester United to do will be to focus on today's game, forget
about the loss to Liverpool, stay vigilant all through the game and take any goal
scoring chances in the game if we hope to win the game.
The most important
strategy about today's game is to make sure Manchester City does not get into a
rhythm, put their Midfield and Forward
under pressure and do not let them get comfortable especially Aguero and Yaya
Toure if Manchester United can keep these two players from having a good game
then Manchester United will stand a chance of winning the game
I still do not understand why coach Luis Van Gaal had to wait till the second half of the first leg in the Europa League game against Liverpool to introduce Antonio Valencia. I know Valencia was injured for a while but If such a creative, energetic player was fit enough to play in a game that Manchester United to score three goals to progress then would it not have been better if Valencia started the game?
Let's just hope that Manchester United wins the game today no matter what strategy Coach Van Gaal decides to use today.
