RACE FOR TOP FOUR CONTINUES
The Barclays Premier League action returned
last week after a weeks break due to several International matches that took
place two weeks ago and Manchester United looked to continue the chase for
Champions League football next season with a win against fierce rival visitors Everton.
Manchester United had a chance before the start of the game to close the gap on
fourth Place team and fierce rivals Manchester City to one point with a win so
anything but a win against Everton would be seen as a huge lost opportunity in
our quest for Champions League football next season.
One huge news
that faced Manchester United before kick off was the continued absence of our famorse
Captain Wayne Rooney. Rooney, a boyhood Everton fan and ex Everton player loves
to play and score against Everton. Rooney has enjoyed playing against his
boyhood team because the Manchester United captain has been consistently
involved in the goals the team has scored against the Merseyside Blues so
Manchester United players and fans alike must have felt a void in the team as
the game kicked off.
However, the team
handled itself very well with the coach's strategy of playing Marcus Rashford
upfront and Anthony Matial on the wing and the two young lads combined to
create the winning goal once again with Martial providing the finishing touch
to guarantee that Manchester United established another Impressive victory at Old
Trafford this season cutting the gap between
us and Arch Rival Manchester City to one point in our continued chase four top
four finish as we keep chasing Champions
League Qualification next season.
One thing I really
loved to see as we played Everton was the way each and every Manchester United
worked extremely hard together to help the team get the win in a tough Merseyside
environment. The Attackers were dropping deep to help the Midfield and defence in
retrieving the ball back from the opposition when the pressure was high and
also how Manchester United midfielders and defenders played high pressing
football by encouraging the defenders and midfielders to occasionally get up
the pitch and support our young attackers up front, I thought Matteo Darmian and
Rojo did excellent job at overlapping in
the wings and supplying balls in the box for our attackers. Mata Carrick and
Lingard were excellent at creating and controlling plays in the midfield and
Herrera was also instrumental in adding more quality in the midfield when he was
substituted into the game.
So with the win
against Everton that makes it four wins out of the last five matches in the
Barclays Premiere League for Manchester United which includes a huge Derby win
against Manchester City two weeks ago. That is a huge momentum to carry into
another huge match against second place team Tottenham Hotspurs this weekend. The
Old Trafford fans will be hoping that Manchester United can pull out another
huge win as the chase for top four continues.
Before I sign off
today i will like to congratulate Sir Bobby Charlton as Manchester United

South Stand the Sir Bobby Charlton stand.
