OLD TRAFFORD'S CURRENT SITTUATION

Good day everyone and welcome to another day of discussion about Manchester United and events surrounding Old Trafford. The past three weeks have been filled with Disappointing results like the lose to Manchester City in the first derby of the season which left Old Trafford Flattened, followed by the surprising loss to Watford, which quite frankly is still such a shock to me. I understand  the derby loss but the loss to Watford and Feyenoord are still two losses that came as huge wrecking ball crushing the high spirits of fans and the team just a little bit. However, Manchester United did make up for the losses by winning the last three games against Northampton, Leicester City and Zoya in the League Cup, Premier League and Europa League respectively. Confidence has returned to the club but as the team headed into this weekend's clash against Stoke City, the fans could not help but wonder what result to expect from the game, especially considering the recent inconsistent results this season. Was Manchester United able to pull out a win before the two weeks international break ? Ibrahimovic, Martial, Pogba and Rooney all had that intention in mind as the four players were all involved to create the opportunity for Martial who was happy to score in front of Old Trafford for his first goal of the season. The Red Devils were unable to retain the lead at the end after De Gea had a chance to catch the ball but he was unable to make the save as he watched the ball rattle off post and fell on the foot of Joe Allen, who was happy to a goal for Stoke to leave Old Trafford stunned and regretful of missing a chance to climb to fourth place in the table.

The Rooney situation continues to affect the team. Wayne Rooney burst into the limelight in the world of football at the age of sixteen and was signed to Manchester United by legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson and for a long time, Wayne Rooney has rewarded the club by scoring goals week after week which earned Rooney a call up to the England National at such a young age and made Rooney famously known as one of Footballs deadliest striker. However, for the best part of the last three years, Rooneys form in football has declined drastically which has got Manchester United asking; If Wayne Rooney is struggling to register one goal a game in recent times, is Rooney worth the $250.000 a week as a salary manchester United currently splashes on the striker. Rooneys recent poor form was immensely highlighted in the last Manchester Derby when Rooney had a chance to get the Red Devils level in the game after Manchester United had gone two goals down thanks to Kevin De-Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho doomed Manchester United to a loss in the first derby this season.  However, it was not the loss itself that riled Manchester United up but Rooneys poor goal scoring technique that really got the fans questioning Rooneys value in the team. Rooney had a chance to snatch a goal and even a point in the game when he got the ball in front of goal and tried to round the Manchester City goal keeper instead of taking a shot resulting to Claudio Bravo safely clutching the ball to earn Manchester City the win.  One goal in nine matches sums up Rooney's poor form this season. Yes granted, Rooney has started some games from the bench this season and Rooney did start some of the games in the bench but for the most part of the season in his favourite position upfront partnering some of Europe's best in form players at the moment; Ibrahimovic, Martial and Rashford. Rooney does not have the luxury of hiding behind the luxury of lack of quality football supply by players around him because he has such amazing players surrounding him. Is it time for Rooney to dig deep within himself and find the quality he has shown the fans in the past or is Rooney willing to spend more time on the bench and let his young team mate Marcus Rashford have more playing time while the Manchester United spends more time on the Carrington training ground to find his form back for the benefit of the team? Only time and Mourinho have the answer to this question. The fans have just found out in today's draw against Stoke City. Disappointing result but that is football. You can not win every game.
