THE TRANSFORMATION SAGA

How did Mourinho do it? That might be the question floating in the minds of some Manchester United fans and Board members. If we think back to last two seasons under Van Gaal, Manchester United's were playing some horrible football under the reign of Van Gaal. Yes, it’s true that as a fan I did support the move to put Van Gaal in charge as Manchester United manager at the time but that was only because the man's record managing teams  like Barcelona and Bayern Munich was absolutely impressive and I expected that he would easily lead Manchester United to success with his experience but the results was the exact opposite. The team was playing boring football, we brought in players with quality but just did not fit the team's style. The club was a mess and the fans started losing hope on the  team's chances of success.                                                                                                                   .

However, two seasons ago, Manchester United announced the dismissal of Van Gaal and announced that in the start of the new season, Old trafford will be lead by the famous Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho also known as the great one. Ever since took charge as Manager of Manchester United the club has been heading in such a positive direction. Great players have been brought in to  strengthen the team, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Matic, Bailey and Lukaku have walked in the door and at the same time Manchester United have been able to retain some old players with great skill such as Mata, Herrera, De Gea and Martial putting Manchester United back on top as one club expected to succeed in multiple competition each season.

The question remains, how did Mourinho transform a team that was heading in a downward spiral to such a strong team that looks set to dominate each and every competition they participate in? Answer might be the  manager's  ability to analyze the team, spot the weaknesses and make excellent movement in the transfer window. Mourinho came in and clearly saw that Manchester United needed strengthening in the defence, the center of our midfield and our forward position. Solution was bringing in Bailey and Lindelof to partner Smalling in defence and that strategy has been working like a charm. Next mourinho moved on to strengthen the midfield by bringing in Matic, Pogba, Mkhitaryan  to support the powerful and accurate Lukaku upfront. Talk about an automatic impact in the team, Mourinho certainly did not take long to transform the team from decent to near Formidable team expected to take on any opponent in any competition.

Total turn around. That’s thee word that will be used to described Mourinho’s` new Manchester United  squad. From taking the team back to the Champions League to making the Raed Devils serious title contenders, the great one has certainly been getting the job done and the fans are definitely all in the same boat when it comes to supporting the manager and why wouldn’t they? Ever since Mourinho stepped into Old Trafford he  set on to upgrade the team's weak defense. The percentage of goals the team have  conceded  has been incredibly lower than the last  two seasons before the portuguese manager took over at Old Trafford. Although the team have not been all that  entertaining when it comes to their football in the pitch, the average goal victory the team has had this season has been won by two goals maximum. Not bad at all from Mr Mourinho’s squad.

I will end this article with this simple question: what makes Mourinho such an amazing manager who manages to get the best out of the players in his team? The answer is: the man is clearly a genius. Think about it? if he’s going to step into the Uefa Champions League and place a young player like Scott McTominay in the starting line up and get the best out of a young man whom had never played in the competition then Jose has probably won my vote for Manager of the season. The kid was great in that great. He played the match like it just another youth training season and with the Matic covering the young  man's back as the central defensive midfielder, the game  flowed  smoothly for the team and the Red Devils ran off with a convincing 2-0 victory. The red devils have been picking up valuable points from games that would have been nerve racking for the fans before Mourinho took over. Talk about impressive. Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton, Liverpool the Red devils have gotten 1 or 3 points from all these game and the team are currently in second place in the Premier League and one win away from clinching a spot in the next stage of this seasons Champions league competition.
