MONEY SPEAKS VOLUMES: MANCHESTER UNITED QUEST TO FINISH STRONG

Money speaks volumes in modern day sports. In the game of golf you would have a man like Tiger Woods earning millions of dollars for potting the ball in a hole with a sticking, in the game of Basket ball you have a Lebron James, Kevin durant or Demar  DeRozan earning a 100 million dollars or more in the modern day for putting the ball into a circle and you will think that it’s easy , it looks easy enough, the players are earning so much money so producing the goods should be consistent.

Capital creates success. That has been the belief of Manchester United football and still continues to be the belief of the football club. I remember a time during the Alex ferguson era, Manchester United were about to play a game and news had broken that one of the clubs biggest players at the time, Cristiano Ronaldo, wanted to leave Manchester United, few months the inevitable did happen and Ronaldo did leave the club for Real Madrid. After that incident, there was panic around the club, the fans were worried because with one of the clubs biggest source of goals gone, what’s next? Who’s going to be next spark source in the club? Same question has been asked when Ryan Giggs got older, when Wayne Rooney lost his edge in United, when Cantona left Old Trafford and when David Beckham departed from the club: Where is the next spark  going to come from? But with modern manchester United team, the question of spark and creativity can’t be brought to the table anymore. With the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata in the team, it’s easy to see why people expect a victory from the team week after week. One thing that I have to say I love about the current Manchester United is the level of confidence and belief the team brings with them in the field each time they play this season. United have been on tear this season winning nine out of their ten last matches in all competition, the confidence in the Red devils is clearly, really, starting to grow back at the team and the fans are ecstatic and looking forward to watching the team play week after week now.

Just when you think life could not get much better for Manchester United this season, life gets even beter for Fans at old Trafford.  Mourinho has been looking for a high calliber player that can create a goal scoring opportunity for himself and his team mate at any point in a game. The club was under the impression that issue of creativity had been ultimately solved after the franchise sealed the long awaited return of Paul Pogba back into his boy hood club but after the past few seasons, the club realised that leaving all the creativity to the French man alone might be a little too much for Pogba to handle alone. It’s been two seasons since Mourinho and Pogba joined together at Manchester United and for two seasons now Pogba with the help of Lukaku and all of their fellow Manchester United team mates have tried to install a high level of quality such as pace, trickery and excellent finishing back into the team.

Sadly, even with the improved high level of football Manchester United have been putting on display for most of the present season, United still can’t seem to
topple the excellence of Manchester City who’s currently sitting with a 12 point gap ahead of the Red Devils in second place. In dawn of the mid season and with Manchester United's history of never settling for nothing for first place, the club did what they always do when the club are unable to reach their goal for the season which is make some adjustment to the team.

Since the start of january, Manchester United were a team that were expected to bring in one more creative player to aid the team in their quest to overthrow their blue neighbours at the top and the news coming out of Carrington this week is suggesting that United have found a solution to the problem in the form of Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez is a superb football player with multiple skills that can open up any tough defence and he has that unselfish attitude to allowing possess an awareness to create the best possible goal scoring opportunity for himself and his team mates.

The most dissapointing aspect of this surpossed deal is that Manchester  United football club as an organisation have failed to officially come out and authenticate  or authenticate the Sanchez deal rumour and that has put the clubs fan base into uncertinty. This past week former Manchester United winger Henrik Mikhitaryan put an end to the suggestion that he was to be sent to Arsenal in other to create space for the anticipated arrival of Sanchez when Mikhitaryan sent a tweet of a picture with him and  his Manchester United team mate at the Carrington training ground which the player himself looked like he captioned “Thank for all the surpport”. Some fans and the media are currently translating the tweet as a comfirmation that the deal to send the Arminian to North london has been finialiazed, the corresponding result will be that Alexis Sanchez is infact moving to Old Trafford and will be unvailed to the public today, Friday January 19 2018, for a fee of around £30 million in general.

In Conclusion, it seems Manchester United in the past two transfer window have managed to improve the quality of players in the football club in other to go toe to toe with the Red Devils noisy neighbours Manchester City. The addition of Paul Pogba, David De Gea’s contract extension, the purchase of a high caliber player such as Nemanja Matic and now the highly anticipated signing of Chiles wonder player Alexis Sanchez, is there anything this football club can't do? The players signed by the manger are huge statement made for the entire league to hear but if Mourinho really wants to cement his name in the clubs history books then winning significant titles should be a good way to do it.
