ARE THERE ENOUGH GAME CHANGERS IN THE CURRENT MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM?

Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, George Best and Dwight Yorke, what do all these players have in common? They were all historical Manchester United who have been known to have the ability to change the score line to help Manchester United team change the score line of any game from a loss to a victory.  Truth of the matter is that with the Manchester United team of the past, the managers have shown the fans that there are some players known as the untouchables. Untouchables are certain players that the current managers have deemed impossible to play a single  game with these players not included in the starting eleven. For Sir Alex Ferguson, it was players like  Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane e.t.c. For fans, seeing these players line up beside their teammates at the start  of the game gave the fans a sign of comfidence that the team will definitely pull a win out of the hat because these players simply had the individual brilliance to change the game when the club were having a difficult time creating goal scoring opportunities in the match. For years possessing that one or two players that has the ability to pick up the ball, do a couple skills here and there and have  the ball nestling in the opponents net has been the quality Manchester United has always been able to brag about in the past couple of years. But it was not just about having multiple, individual game changers with superb skill sets in the team, that’s what made Manchester United even more astonishing to watch was the way these great players were able to put there egos aside and understand which game would suit a particular player to take over and lead the team to victory, no matter how difficult the teams situation was during the game. In recent time, Manchester United has had at least one game changer in the team. David Moyes had Bastian Schweinsteiger, Shingi kagawa in his team and Van Gaal had Memphis Depay, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher. These were players the Manchester United manager was confident would be able to add some extra individual flair to help the team win.

The crazy thing is that these players were always able to pull out some epic skills in moments that Manchester United had difficulty in the match. Remember during the Champions league final were Manchester United were expected to loose to high flying FC Barcelona. But goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney help the team win the competition.

That’s the type of  multiple quality players the club had in the team at that time period but Manchester United were not the only team that had superstar players in their team at that time period, teams like Barcelona, Chelsea, AC Milan and Real Madrid also had multiple superstar footballers on their team but  what made Manchester United so different from the rest was the way Manchester United were also able to play with each other so well no matter the different combination of players the manager decided to line up with, the analyst and fans were always sure to expect quality, entertaining football from the team. Think about it, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, Paul Schools, Nani, Dennis Law, Ryan Giggs all this players all had one thing in common and that was that there could simply pick up the ball, run at the oppositions defence unstopped and eventually either get taken down illegally, create a goal scoring chance for himself or create goal scoring  opportunities for his fellow teammates.

Versatility around the field, that has always been what Manchester United football club has been about but in the recent past couple of seasons, Football pundits and the clubs own fans have been making serious and, in all honesty, fair cases that the club had been lacking enough players in the team with skills, versatility to unlock any strong opponent in any football league around the world.

So the question now is: Has Mourinho done it? Has Mourinho acquired the sufficient amount of quality football player whom could be referred to as “Game Changers” in the team that would satisfy the clubs fan base, the clubs board of directors and even satisfy The manager himself to put away the wallets for a while, focus on playing quality football on the field for the next two to three seasons to come? Unfortunately, according to the most recent interview, the clubs manager had on BT Sports television less than two weeks ago, expectations of the club closing the cheque books in the near future during the transfer windows is unlikely to happen.

A team with the likes of Lukaku, Rashford, Pogba, Martial, Sanchez, Mata, Young, the list goes on , players with skills for days that can quickly dismantle any opponent, how much more modification will the team need? More importantly, how will any future addition or subtraction in the squad affect the dynamic  balance in the team?

Well for one thing, the competition for game time and loss of confidence might definitely come into question: Confidence, team unity and team balance is the one quality the current Manchester United squad off from. Mourinho has made the squad feel so assured that every player, if  healthy and  performing well, will always have a chance to play for the team. Earlier this season, one of United main hit men Paul Pogba experience a slight bump in the season when the french man struggled to create, not just for himself, but for his team mates as well in a couple of games. The week got even worse for one of the club star man when he was sent off and had to sit out a couple of games and usually you would expect a club with its main playmaker to struggle for the next few games but typical Manchester United and Mourinho, Young Scott Mctominay was promoted and he, along with his teammates, helped push the club to win four games.

The reality is this: Manchester United is a massive club filled multiple players with superb individual quality that can win any game. If you look left, right and center of the field you will be baffled by the amount of quality players in the club, players that pick up the ball, do a trick or two and run at the oppositions defence, the fans and owners might not be able to express how much jow they have in the way the team has been assembled. Now  it’s up to Mourinho to decide when and where each player will fit in the team in other to get the as much victories to finish as high as possible this season.
