MANCHESTER UNITED POST UPDATE : CHASING BOATENG & MARTIAL FORCED OUT THE DOOR

Manchester United on the chase for a quality defender and in a sense, chasing the right man in terms of quality but is he the right man Manchester United fans would accept for the long term when his age is considered? That is the question surrounding 29 year old German defender Jerome Boateng. Boateng who currently plays his football in germany with top german club Bayern Munich has started to search for a route away from after reports suggested that the German player has accomplished all that there is to accomplish with Bayern Munich and is now looking to try and win other Trophies away from Germany. Speaking on a recent interview Jerome Boateng had this to say about his football career and his plans for the future:

"I've experienced everything at FC Bayern, and I am slowly coming to a point where I must answer myself certain question ," Boateng previously told   Socrates  magazine.

"What are the goals I have not reached yet? Do I, time and time again, want to prove myself at the same club with the same pre-conditions?

Of Course with the recent growing complaints Manchester United fans have been having about the clubs recent high interest in players whom are edging towards the end of their career, any official attempt Manchester United take on signing might just aggravate the existing the Manchester United fans have about the clubs lack of interest in young talents for Manchester United's back line moving forward. However, speaking to Bild Magazine Bayern manager had this to say in regards to Boateng's  current situation :

"If a club comes to us and he says that he wants to join that club, then we will negotiate. But the offer has to be important".

Boateng still has a three year running contract with Bayern but the German champions will be open to any “Right” offers provided for the German international this summer.

Manchester United have not official made any request to suggest the Red devils might be interested in bringing Boateng over to England but Boateng might be the right player to anchor Bailey in Manchester United's center back duo partnership for crucial games next season. Boateng will cost £13 million is what Jerome Boateng will cost Manchester United this summer and the brilliant part of this business for Manchester United is that both Boateng and Bayern Munich are open to doing business with Manchester United but one aspect that has kept both clubs from coming to a conclusion is that Manchester United might be considering the need for Boateng in the team next season. Mourinho already has an abundance of Center Backs in the team in the form of Chris Smalling, Eric Bailey, Phil Jones and of course Victor Lindelof and this seems be the issue for Manchester United which is that Manchester United already have enough defence in the team. But let’s think about this from an analytical stand point, Manchester United during %45 of their matches suffered setbacks from winning positions that either caused the team to drop an entire 3 points in matches or drop a point which as everyone witnessed caused the Red Devils an opportunity to advance further in last season's  UEFA Champions League competition as well as an opportunity to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League. Let’s look at this from an analytical standpoint by comparing both Manchester clubs to see what made one successful and what hindered the other one’s success. Manchester City were known for their spectacular Midfield having players like De-Bruyne, Fernandinho, Jesus, Yaya Toure, Silva etc which makes them special is their ability to break down an opponent's  Defence! Yes Manchester City won last season not because of what being said about their Midfield alone but instead because they had two things working for them which is a Great midfield yes, but a great midfield anchored by a Superb Defence. Mourinho has rectified Manchester United's midfield situation with the signing of Fred to the squad and yes the general consensus around Manchester United is that one extra midfielder might be needed before the Transfer deadline but the most important spot needed before the transfer deadline is an extra center Back and Jerome Boateng will be an excellent addition to bring stability and strong leadership to Manchester United's  defence next season.

The truth is that after witnessing Manchester United lack of creativity in the midfield last season, there will be a logical reason and justification behind Manchester United's fans urgency and demand for a surge of quality midfielders signed by Jose Mourinho this summer, the Manchester United fans just want to avoid a repeat of last seasons league dominance by Manchester City but if Mourinho does succeed in his pursuit for a Center Back such as Boateng, Mourinho will then use the summer period and most importantly The FIFA World Cup as a sought of exhibition to pick the right Midfielder to complete his summer business.

To conclude this weekend's news article, time to talk about this weeks headline news and possibly this summer's biggest and, at the same time, the most disappointing news coming straight out of Old Trafford this week and the news is none other than the fact that one of the  clubs most beloved players Anthony Martial wants to part ways with Manchester United this summer. The news dropping earlier this week when Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley had admitted that the time had arrived for the star French man to consider life away from Old Trafford. Martial has clearly found life in Manchester United extremely difficult especially in recent seasons under Mourinho which has seen Martial constantly dropped in favour of Manchester United's new recruit Alexis Sanchez. Most football pundits feared that the career of such a young, talented, player such as Anthony Martial had come to a premature end after the arrival of Sanchez and this weeks situation surrounding the french winger seem to have confirmed the predictions of most football pundits that Anthony Martial will part ways with Manchester United. On Wednesday june 13, Martial's Agent,  Lamboley told RMC Sport

“After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United. There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them. Manchester Unitedwant Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.

“I think that when Manchester United, the most powerful club in the world, do not find an agreement after eight months of negotiations then they do not really want to keep such an important player in their squad. That’s why this decision has come – it’s a well-thought-out decision.

“It’s important to remember that he is under contract and that Manchester United will have the last word. We will respect the club’s decision and he will stick with his commitment to the end.

“Anthony is disappointed because he has shown his love for the club and the supporters for three seasons. Without the unconditional support of the fans he would have already asked to leave United. I think he has done his best for three years and it is important to remember that he scored 11 goals and made 10 assists in five months of last season.

“Everyone will have their opinion but I think he needs to resume his career. The time has come.”

The reality is that Manchester United fans must have seen this eventuality coming. This was a purely strategic plan to push the french man out the door of Old Trafford and this is simply the result of the plan. Mourinho failed to create enough game time for the French Man for the last two seasons combined and as a result, Martial has been left with no option but to seek greener pastures beyond the walls of Old Trafford. The truth is that Mourinho has to be questioned for his level of Fair treatment amongst  the Manchester United player. It’s clear that for reasons which has yet to be explained, Anthony Martial was slowly excluded from the Manchester United starting IX and yet Mourinho is still unable to a clear reasonable response to the question why? Why is a player who was clearly Manchester  United best player before Mourinho took over at Old Trafford suddenly forced on the bench? Favouritism ? personal grudge from the manager? fall out between player and manager?
Whatever the reason, the reality is that Manchester United face the risk of loosing a young, amazingly gifted, player this summer with clubs such as Chelsea, Real Madrid and Tottenham all ready to cash huge sums for Martial this summer. The Manchester United board members as well as the Manchester United fans are definitely on side of keeping Martial at Old Trafford in the near future but even the elite Manchester United board members have conceded that Mourinho will have the final say in regards to Martials future and all signs points to a permanent move to Wembley next season for Martial unless Mourinho has a change of heart over the next three months.
