MANCHESTER UNITED LACK OF SUMMER BUSINESS COSTLY ?
Here we go again. The prospect of Manchester United making a move towards the end of the transfer window was always there and Mourinho seems to have to pull the “out of the blue” trigger that made Mourinho such a famous manager all through Mourinho’s career the Portuguese Manager have been known as a man who loves to pull of the unpredictable and once again Mourinho is on the verge of pulling yet another surprise move as the end of this summers transfer window moves ever closer. Honestly, if you are a Manchester United fan who has been paying close attention to the summer transfer window then you would understand that Manchester United's newest, incoming player is not really much of a surprise player at all. In fact, this player was on the verge of joining Manchester United during the early parts of this current summer transfer window but Manchester United elected to put his transfer completion on hold when the news that Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Alex Sandro will all possibly become available this summer. As the transfer window has progressed this summer, Manchester United have been unlucky not to secure the services of either of the three quality players leaving Manchester United to turn right back to the first player the Red Devils were strongly interested in from the beginning of the transfer window Wilian.
The truth is that by the time this article is published Willian should have already been confirmed as the last Manchester United signing of the summer but the best question is: who is the real winner between Chelsea and Manchester United should the deal for the Brazilian winger be completed? On the one hand, Chelsea will lose a player who has been so significant in making Chelsea’s top four ambitions a reality in recent seasons past. On the other hand, Manchester United will be getting a player who is well beyond his 20’s and a player who is on brink of turning 30. In the world of football, a player such as Wilian would be considered a veteran player. Don’t misunderstand this article. the article is in no way implying that Wilian is not a quality player, far from it. Willian is a talented footballer but in a club such as Manchester United where the fans favor young superstars who will signal progress and signal the Red Devil are a forward-thinking club, a player in his thirties to be possibly signed by Manchester United might not be what the high demanding Old Trafford fans want to hear. But fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you view the news, Wilian seems destined to be wearing a Manchester United jersey next season. Or so it seemed, Chelsea has released a statement of their own claiming Wilian will not be leaving Standford Bridge this summer.
So which is it? is Willian signing for Manchester United or staying at Chelsea? Seems this article, though a little slow in it’s release date, is pretty accurate with the Manchester United transfer prediction as reports have started appearing with a little more certainty in each writers tone in regards to Manchester United signing Brazilian winger Willian. According to the Daily express UK Tabloid, Chelsea football club last week accepted a deal worth 66 million for the Brazilian winger to head to Old Trafford before the official date the summer transfer market closes. Willian, who was set to become Mourinho fourth and final signing this current transfer window, will not only bring divided opinions between Manchester United fans about his necessity in the team in the future but the winger will definitely bring an extra pace and an extra creativity to a Manchester United team. Judging from the recent performance in Manchester United's last three games in the US Tour, if Manchester United is serious about competing for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League title next season, considering the fact that every club which will participate in both competition is more than likely to bolster their club this summer, Willian's addition to Manchester United is one that the clubs board member and fan club should feel comfortable with. Yes Willian is a player who can be viewed as “aged”, is a better term to be used in this situation, but Willian is skilled, quick, will help shoulder the load of creativity in the Manchester United team next season with the help of players such as Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanches, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata.
Frankly, if the analysis were to be done on what Willian will bring to Manchester United next season in terms of helping the team challenge for a trophy next season? Answer: five words, Dynamism, quickness, experience, goals and assists. If you watched Willian with Chelsea, which it’s safe to say most Manchester United fans did not, Willian statistics was quite impressive for the blues with the level of chances he created and the impact he had for Chelsea from the right-hand side. His impact for Chelsea on the right is certainly something Manchester United can use next season should the Red Devils complete the signing for the Brazilian winger this summer. But the new problem that seems to be standing in the way of Manchester United completing one last signing this summer is Manchester United themselves. To be more specific, Manchester United board owners are simply refusing to allow Mourinho to pay inflated prices to sign players this summer. All signs point to Manchester United signing Willian but Manchester United owners are adamant on not paying the level of money demanded by Chelsea.
So once again, Manchester United are running the risk of possibly not signing a player because of financial implications. Typical. The club already lost out on signing Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and a few other big name players that were available this summer. Players that, should they have signed for Manchester United would have not only added to the clubs quality next season but also would have improved Manchester United's playing style on the pitch, which will improve the clubs chances of winning titles. Winning titles will not only appeal to the fans but winning titles will also bring more money into the club. Spending money in the transfer window is a win-win scenario but the money needs to be spent on the right reasons. By "the right reasons" means players who are at that right age between young, developing and experienced enough to do the right things on the pitch. The time has come, as Mourinho heads into his last tenure as Manager of Manchester United, for Mourinho and the Manchester United board to sit down and have a serious talk about the clubs future. The decision left to take is: do Manchester United intend to spend on the right players and win a title or will mediocre football, second place finish and minimal appearances in big competitions in Europe be the norm for Manchester United? These decisions should be made by Manchester United sooner rather than the later.
