MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS

The transfer window is closed. The business is done for Manchester United and although the business end of the season, which is the transfer window, is officially over, did Manchester United conclude with the right business plan which they wanted? Mourinho opened up the summer season with one important conference that quickly spread joy to the hearts of the majority of Manchester United fans all across the world. Amazing how a few simple words, “we are going to sign four players” or “four players coming in this summer”, can resonate so much positivity around such a mighty football club but create positivity is exactly what Jose Mourinho's words have done. After Mourinho promise during the press conference of signing four players this summer transfer window positivity around Manchester United fans quickly skyrocketed with the belief that with the four incoming, presumably star quality, players Manchester United will be able to snatch the Premier League trophy out of the hands of bitter rivals Manchester City. The plan next season must have also included signing quality players this current summer transfer window to enable the club win the prestigious UEFA Champions League trophy all in the space of next season. Well! What happened? Manchester United, with orders coming straight from the mouth or straight from the written words of Mr. Ed woodwards himself went from chasing four signings to suddenly appearing to settle for just two summer signings. Are two signings enough? Is Mourinho really done with signing players and instead concentrating on the new season which kicks off next week? The media certainly don’t think so.

The rumour continues to circulate about Manchester United continued chase for one last signing and as Mourinho continues his obvious chase for center back signing before the closure of the transfer window outside of England, which ends this Friday, all eyes will strongly be on Mourinho to see if the Portuguese Manager can still pull off the promised Center Back signing Mourinho guaranteed earlier this month, all eyes will now be on Manchester United as the team prepare for their second match of this 2018/2019 Premier League season and according to Manchester United fans this is the season Mourinho either wins either the Premier League trophy, UEFA Champions League Trophy or both. Losing cannot be an option for Mourinho anymore.  Which begs the question: is the current Manchester United team really ready to challenge for both the premier league trophy as well as UEFA Champions League trophy and win? Listen, if any analyst is being honest, the verdict on Manchester United chances to lift both Premier League trophy will be slim but possible. Manchester United's offense seems to be absolutely strong and intact with players such as Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata etc all showing pure hunger and impressive quality in parts of this recently concluded US Tour this summer, Manchester United will be confident of seeing some good attacking quality from the team this season. obviously, Paul Pogba and new signing Fred will be the heart of Manchester United's midfield this season but with Scott Mctominar, Ander Herrera, Andreas Perera and Marouane Fellaini all expected to chip in this coming season, how good will Manchester United be this season and can Mourinho finally deliver a trophy or two this 2018/2019 season?

Manchester United kicked off the first game of the season against Leicester city this past Friday and as the club prepares to face off against Brighton on the second game of the season, whether Manchester United's performance on their first two games of the season was impressive or not, Manchester United fans must remember that Mourinho’s interest this season is not about impressing the fans by playing fancy, entertaining football but simply about winning. That is the Mourinho way apparently. Is that strategy lowering the expectations of the fans on the quality level of football played by the team? Absolutely!

But here are two things Manchester United should consider as far as what to expect from the team this season and why Mourinho’s Manchester United team plays at the level they currently do. One, Mourinho did not get the number of players he demanded this transfer window. Manchester United went into this transfer window with the plan of getting three players at least this summer transfer window but in the end, Mourinho clearly got two. Not enough to improve the team completely but with Mourinho overachieving last season with a team with an inadequate midfield, this seasons team with Pogba the much improved Andreas Pereira, the quality new Brazilian Fred, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, etc all ready to contribute to the course, can this seasons Manchester United team do better than last seasons overachievement by winning the Premier League trophy?

Leicester has never been an easy team to face but a win last Saturday night was just the right way to start the game. Yes it’s It’s true that Manchester United did not necessarily get all the much-needed target players that Mourinho wanted so badly this recently concluded transfer window but the question that needed to be answered as soon as the summer transfer window shut down was not whether or not Mourinho got the much-needed players he so craved during the summer but how far will the present Manchester United go this season? is the current squad good enough to take on all opponents, go all the way to win the Premier League and the Champions League? Honestly, the way the team has started the season has been bright and positive but predicting that the team will go ahead and win a trophy this early in trophies at the end of the season will simply be seen as a wild prediction with no strong supporting evidence.

“ Happy with the way the boys played especially under such difficult circumstances”.
"Pogba was a monster," Mourinho said in his post-match press conference. "We thought maximum [he would play] 60 minutes, but he managed more than 80.
"It was not a hard decision [to start Pogba], the decision was down to him. With Ander Herrera injured, I had only two options, Scott McTominay or Pogba.
"If I played Scott, I would have two kids and a new player [Fred] in midfield. So I asked Paul and he put himself forward for the team and was very, very good for us."

Listening to Jose Mourinho’s post-match conference really did not help to control the level of positivity flowing through  Old Trafford after the hugely important three points secured by the team on opening day. Mourinho was all full of praise and positive feedback for his team after the victory achieved under such difficult circumstances. The Manchester United manager had admitted prior to Fridays match that he was worried about his teams match fitness after a grueling world cup followed immediately by Manchester United's pre-season matches and then straight to the Premier League. What a way for the team to show their determination to win this season! the fans will hope to see more free-flowing, more expansive and more exciting football this weekend as the Premier League continues with Manchester United facing  Brighton this Sunday.  Two wins in a row will be the dream start to the season for Mourinho and his team.

What a speech! Mourinho took to an interview showing his full praise and gratitude towards his team after the team pulled a victory in their first game of the season despite the fact that most of Manchester United player was fatigued after a grueling world cup followed immediately by a tough pre-season tour. If Mourinho and the entire Manchester United team can somehow maintain the level of high spirit that has apparently made its way into the Manchester United, the team can possibly go all the way and win Trophies this season. But the Manchester United team, as well as the Manchester United fans, will be advised to resist the temptation of looking too far ahead in the future. There are lots of matches still to play in the season, as well as, a few kinks still left to be addressed in the team but at moment, Manchester United have built a very good platform to work with to succeed this season.
