MANCHESTER UNITED MID SEASON TURBULANCE

Mauricio Pochetinho is the lead favorite manager to take over the helm as the new manager at Old Trafford. At least that is what the most recent poll delivered by the sky sports group is reporting. According to the popular and frequently accurate sports media source Sky Sports, as current manager for English club side Tottenham, Mourinho Pochetino is a man in hot demand to take control at Old Trafford as the new manager in charge of Manchester United football club at the start of next season.

The news should not come as too much of a surprise to anyone who has been keeping tabs` on what has developed at Manchester United in the current month of December. Jose Mourinho’s struggles at Old Trafford became Illuminated after Manchester United's unbearable defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield and as quickly as the final whistle for the match sounded, Jose Mourinho was handed his termination letter out of Carrington. Jose Mourinho had barely to the cab when Manchester United legend Ole Guuner Solskijier was announced as the new temporary caretaker in charge of Manchester United and caretaker manager Ole Gunner Solskier had barely finish his official press conference and Mauricio Pochetinho turned to the leading favorite manager to take over Manchester United ahead of two popular French managers Zinedine Zidan and Laurent Blanc.

The polls show Mauricio Pochetinho in the clear lead as the favorite to seal the role as Manchester United next season and if the decision were left to the Manchester United fans, the fans will welcome one highly revered manager such as Mauricio Pochetinho who breathes attacking football 24/7. However, the decision of appointing Mauricio Pocchetinho is ultimately down to a difficult Tottenham owner in Daniel Levi who despises letting go of anyone from his football club and the financial misers known as the Glazers in charge of Manchester United. All in all, the case of stuck between a blazing fire and a tsunami for Manchester United fans. Neither options appear good and meanwhile, Manchester United is still struck fighting to break into the top 4 of the Premier League table while still fighting to win the UEFA Champions League competition all to be settled by the end of the current season. Talk about a mess!

The Glazers most certainly do not necessarily have to be pinned to just one option when the case of appointing a new long-term manager. Appointing the right general manager who the same level of hunger and passion for success found in Manchester United takes time and diligence to make the right choice. Will a man such as Mauricio Pochetinho or even Mauricio Pochetinho himself make a great manager on Old Trafford? Absolutely! Managers with a hunger to succeed, the understanding that promoting young players will ultimately lead to success is exactly what Manchester United need to rediscover success. However, the problem with finding such managers is that such manager is either difficult to find or such managers are already tied to a football club unwilling to part ways with their managers.

Laurent Blanc seems to be a man that seems to be popping up in the radar of Manchester United football club as a manager who is to supersedes Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager next season. to be honest, the news about Manchester United possibly signing on a French manager might not be completely surprising for two possible reasons, 1: the strong French connection the club has had over the years. Manchester United has constantly done an excellent job with bringing over people from France who have gone on to help the club succeed while simultaneously going on to achieve personal success on and off the pitch.

Does the success of the French players who have proudly worn the famous Red jersey of Manchester United such as Laurent Blanc himself imply that a French manager will automatically succeed at Old Trafford? Laurent Blanc’s track record as manager might best shed some light on the answer to this question. As a manager in Bourdeux Laurent Blanc help the French club to three trophies in France, the Ligue 1 in 2008-2009, the  Coupe de La Ligue 2008-2009 and the Trophee des Champion in 2008-2009 season all in one season. You will think that winning three trophies in a French league as a manager, not to mention the history the manager has as a player will make a man such as Blanc a suitable manager for Manchester United but Laurent Blanc’s accolades as a manager move a little than three aforementioned trophies. During his time as manager, Laurent Blanc went on to secure four major trophies namely the Ligue 1, Coupe De France, Coupa De La Liga, and the Trophee Des Champion later on in his career as manager of French giants Paris ST German. Normally all these accolades might make Laurent Blanc a favorite for the job as new manager of a current Manchester United football club who is undoubtedly attempting to transform themselves back into a club with the ability to succeed in both domestic competition and competitions in Europe as well.

However, despite Laurent Blanc's impressive managerial resume, the French man sits in second place in the ongoing poll of the most favorable man to fill in the general manager role behind current leader Mauricio Pochetinho and third place occupant Zinedine Zidan. Not surprising of course considering how revered the other two nominated manager running for the managerial job at Manchester United the idea of a manager such as Laurent Blanc who’s resume is quite remarkable will be considered as the third place for the Manchester United managerial. Zinedine Zidan a highly respected man in the world of football took on the task of Real Madrid Manager in 2016- 2018 and quite honestly Zidan did a fantastic job in a club which was struggling for supremacy in Spain over the equally intimidating giants of football in Spain and in Europe FC Barcelona.

Despite all of Zidan's accolades, Zidan still remains second place in the race to secure the job as Manchester United’s new manager. Manchester United are well aware of the possibility of bringing Mauricio Pochetino will take will a massive amount of financial sustenance- 20 million at least- be enough to convince Tottenham owner Daniel Levi to part ways with his pot of gold manager who just signed a contract meant to keep him in at Wembley Stadium and the new Tottenham Hotspurs stadium until 2022 at least. That meant Game, set, match for Tottenham as they appear to have won the chess game against Manchester United on who gets to keep Mauricio Pochetinho. At least for now.

So what now for the ever rich Glazers? Will Manchester United run the risk of hypnotizing Tottenham owner, Daniel Levi, with an unspeakable bid for Mauricio Pochetinho which MR Levi will find absolutely impossible to refuse and subsequently being inactive during the 2019 summer transfer window or will the Glazers keep their pockets full and opt for a less expensive manager such as Zinedine Zidan or Laurent Blanc?

In summary, Mauricio Pochetinho appears to be the overwhelming target for the Glazers and Manchester United fans. However, the reality of bringing Mauricio Pochetinho over to Old Trafford as the Manchester United and the possibility of Manchester United making any further improvement to their team during the upcoming 2019 summer Transfer Window still remains in doubt. Manchester United remains one of the richest clubs in the world but maintaining the rich-elite status the club has earned depends on how good the decisions made by the clubs main owners are.
