MANCHESTER UNITED'S RECENT LACK OF TROPHIES MIGHT BE A GOOD SITUATION

What exactly will continuous dominance in the Premier League have done for Manchester United? Will continuous dominance of the Premier League and possibly the UEFA Champions League necessarily be a good thing for the Red Devil? or does a little struggle to successfully win Trophies automatically instill balance between Financial growth and positive football in Old Trafford.

Ever since the departure of one of the clubs most successful manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United has been nothing but a deserted wasteland when the issue of Trophies is brought onto the table. Lack of Trophies and the steady decline of new star footballers continuous to fuel the rumours of Manchester United head owners using the club as nothing more than a cash cow that continuous to produce steady income regardless of the number of trophies won in recent years as a possible result of the lack of reinvestment done by the Manchester United owners.

On the one hand, most people can understand the competitive nature of Manchester United fans, the desire to return to the top of the pile, the desire to relieve the championship glory days, a touch of superiority complex that seems cover the entire Manchester United football club and of cause the undeniable urge to maintain the clubs financial supremacy might have a hand in the ongoing hunger to return to the top of the pile. However, recent findings have brought an idea to the table which suggests that maybe Manchester United’s recent misfortunes might be serving a greater purpose for Manchester United football club and European football in general. Naturally, suggesting the idea that Manchester United’s current misery is necessarily a good situation for the English giants will no doubt lead to some eyebrows raised. However, there is a good point to the idea. The Premier League has undoubtedly become one of the most viewed sports competition worldwide and there is little doubt that one of the famous clubs in football, Manchester United, contributes largely to the growing popularity of the premier league because of the high football quality found in east Manchester. But will the large popularity of competition such as The Premier League and The UEFA Champions League remain relevant should one single club constantly dominate the competition?

The figures do not lie. Manchester United generate at least 13% financial increase in the MANUTD LTD portfolio once the Red Devils qualify for the prestigious UEFA Champions League competition through Television Advertising and ticket sales and increase in sales has generated continuous rumors of the Glazer family primarily concerned on financial profit. However, considering some of the wages of the current Manchester United players and the high expenses needed to keep such a big club like Manchester United afloat, maybe the Glazers have done their part in pushing Manchester United to succeed. After viewing some of the bits and pieces of the clubs revenue from a few websites, including the official Manchester United website, fair to say Manchester United does indeed do indeed deserve the Title “Richest club in the world” but the clubs annual expenses as of December 2018 provides a compelling argument as to why Manchester United will continue to struggle to make new signings in the near future.

Unfortunately for Manchester United fans, expecting major signings into Manchester United to manifest itself in the upcoming 2019 summer transfer window is unlikely to happen because Manchester United cannot afford major signings this summer. At least not without release a number Manchester United currently under contract at Old Trafford. The possible outcomes heading Manchester United’s direction from a financial aspect are two options: Manchester United either decide to sell a couple players to generate more capital during the 2019 summer transfer window or the board of directors in charge at Manchester United decides to withhold any major participation during the 2019 summer transfer window. There will be major upsets in expectation especially from the Manchester United fans should Manchester United refuse to make any major signings during the summer of 2019 but the decision not to make any signings in the summer of 2019 might ultimately be the smart financial decision made by the Glazers.

There is no denying that Manchester United is one of the top Three richest football clubs in the world currently making a net profit worth around 581 m at the end of the 2018 calendar year. This massive estimates in the clubs annual revenue will explain the constant demands from the clubs fan base from the Red part of Manchester to constantly take advantage of each transfer window to strengthen the club. Having money in the bank is one thing and having enough capital to maintain the talented players already in the club and continuously make additions each year without letting go of some names on the clubs roster is another.

At the moment,  Manchester United’s stock rates stand at %19.7 drop which means that the club is currently losing more money than the club is making so constant activity in the transfer market this upcoming 2019 summer Transfer window might be difficult. %19 drop in the stock market might not seem like a lot but considering the amount the money the club is spending on annual expenditures, the club will shortly be left with the option of losing some of the big name players or lift one or two trophies in the next one or two seasons stay financially balanced next season.
