MANCHESTER UNITED TALK- ICARDI FOR LUKAKU IN SUMMER 2019

Mario Icardi has finally bitten up more than he can chew in Italy as parent club Inter Milan looks to part ways with the Argentine super forward and further reports indicate that Manchester United is willing showing interest on taking Icardi out of Internationale’s hands in the coming summer of 2019.

The reports of Mario Icardi exit from the San Siro starting spreading after a few other reports about a few fall outs between Icardi and Inter Millan managements. Icardi current contract is said to have reached its expiration period and Inter Milan has so far made no attempt in renegotiating a new contract for Mario Icardi’s services.

At this point in time, Manchester United’s only real link to the Mario Icardi story is that Manchester United appear to be preparing a summer signing move to acquire the Argentine striker from Inter Milan. The plot seems to surround the idea that Manchester United feel unsettled with the inconsistent performance of Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku in front of goal and will look to bring in Mario Icardi this summer to add more firepower in front of goal for Manchester United next season. Manchester United will ultimately not be opposed to the idea of having a second quality striker such as Mario Icardi who can contribute a couple of extra goals for Manchester United seeing as how Manchester United’s current second striker Marcus Rashford seem content with operating in the right wing position for Manchester United.

68 million pounds is the setup price for Manchester United should the Red Devils be seriously intent on taking Mario Icardi as one of their own this summer. As terrific a striker as the Italian man Icardi is, Mario Icardi carries a reputation with him which Manchester United should be concerned with especially if Manchester United are indeed going to appoint a seemingly meek mannered manager in Ole Gunner Solskjaer next season. The history between Italian club Inter Milan and Mario Icardi is rumored to have been circulated with heated arguments between players and managers of Inter Milan football club. Mario Icardi continues to accumulate the sought of attention Mario Balotelli had made for himself in a Manchester City shirt.  During Balotelli’s time at Manchester City, Balotelli was known for having two sides to his game, one side is the one where the player is witnessed playing some fantastic football on the field and scoring an outstanding good number of goals but after the final whistle Balotelli has been documented to engage himself in situations which creates problems for his teammates and the club Managers. Mario Icardi appears to carry the same unprofessional attitude at times attached to him and the worry with Manchester United signing Icardi is not a personal worry but more of a professional worry concerning the question of whether Ole Gunner Solskjaer can handle a player such as Mario Icardi wearing the Manchester United jersey. If Manchester United were to pen to paper and acquire the services of Mario Icardi tomorrow Can Ole Gunner Solskjaer get Mario Icardi to abandon his personal agenda at the front door and completely commit to succeeding with Manchester United no matter the role Mario Icardi is asked to play?

At this point in the year, Manchester United have not offered any official bid to sign Mario Icardi because the 2019 summer transfer activities will not be active until the month of June. However, a couple of news reports have dropped suggestions that Manchester United have already had sit down discussions with the Inter Milan management to iron out a possible verbal agreement where both parties agree to swap players this summer.  The deal will potentially see Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku move to Italy while Manchester United receive 26-year-old Argentine forward Mauro Icardi in return. Should Manchester United and Inter Milan decide to agree on a deal this summer, the best possible might be a swap deal between both football clubs for both players in the coming months of June – July 2019. As far as contract cases are concerned, Lukaku is currently tired down to Manchester United until the year 2022 but sources continue to suggest the powerful Belgian center forward is willing to depart Manchester United before his current contract comes to an end.

If Manchester United chooses to decide the fate of Lukaku’s future at the club based on the performance of the Belgian strikers so far this season the statistics show that Romelu Lukaku is lacking a little behind Manchester United’s current target Mauro Icardi by a small number of meters.  While Romelu Lukaku sits on an average of 194 goals in 415 appearances, Mauro Icardi sits at 161 goals in 279 appearances for Inter Milan making Icardi a little more prolific as a striker at this current point in both players careers.

Should the deal between both clubs turn out to be a reality and go through this summer, in terms of statistics Manchester United will not have made any realistic improvements in terms of trading Mauro Icardi for Romelu Lukaku. Both players appear to have closely identical statistical numbers in terms of performance except Romelu Lukaku’s goals scored for Manchester United holds a better advantage over Mauro Icardi. Which means that should Manchester United decide to stick with Romelu Lukaku after the 2019 summer transfer window closes, Manchester United holds a higher opportunity of ripping the benefits with Lukaku more than likely able to score a couple of important goals for Manchester United during the long stretch of the season. With Mauro Icardi on the other hand, Manchester United will be getting a player in Icardi who quite frankly carries with him a hand full of controversy which can affect the positive flow surrounding Manchester United at the moment. No real offer has been made by Manchester United to acquire Icardi’s services next season, however major speculations suggests that Manchester United will be prepared to offer Inter Milan the sum of around 43 million pounds for the Argentine forward. Considering Icardi’s potential to pose a flight risk for any club he plays for, 43 million pounds can be considered a very reasonable offer for Inter to take should Manchester United decide to do business with Inter Milan this summer.

The best option Manchester United can take this summer might be to make a deal with Inter this summer and retain Romelu Lukaku’s services for next season as well. With Manchester United presumably planning to go all the way for double trophies once again next season, having both on the roaster might not only give Manchester United the extra quality to go all the way in the UEFA Champions League but the might also hand Manchester United that extra fire power to overtake the likes of Manchester City & Liverpool in the Premier League next season.
