MANCHESTER UNITED INTEREST IN BRUNO FERNANDEZ IN A COMPLICATED SPOT OR WORSE?

The Bruno Fernandez transfer talk has unfortunately died down at the moment for the 2019 summer transfer window. The Portuguese midfielder who was expected to be one of the major transfer for Manchester United was expected to have concluded his move from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United by the end of the month of March and announced at the beginning of June has suddenly begun to stall and unfortunately looking as a situation were Manchester United are in a position to unfortunately fail to sign the Portuguese midfielder this summer. Bruno Fernandes was expected to be the next big target signing for Manchester United this summer with Manchester United said to have prepared a transfer bid worth up to 70 million to sign the Portuguese midfield back in the month of April.

However, ever since the month of may, Sporting Lisbon had openly recognized their Portuguese captain as the face of the club and a player whom sporting Lisbon had plans of putting in the center of the clubs plan moving forward. Bruno Fernandez played, a pivotal roll in helping the Portuguese club hold a place in the top 4 of the Portuguese Primeira Liga last season and putting up a statistic rate of 20 goals and 13 assists in 33 appearances. His statistics show the level of class the Sporting Lisbon captain has in him and why clubs such as Manchester United are in hot pursuit to sign the Portuguese captain this summer. However, from recent research, the result suggests that Manchester City, not Manchester United will be the once to sign Bruno Fernandes in the summer of 2019. Manchester City have reportedly signed the Portuguese playmaker in a deal said to have been triggered back in the month of March by Manchester City owners and after some inconclusive decision making between Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City which resulted to Manchester United almost stealing the Portuguese midfielder, an agreement appears to have materialized between Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City certifying Bruno Fernandes will most likely be a Manchester City player before the start of the 2019/20 Premier League and Champions League season.

The news of Manchester City strongly anticipated to secure the services of Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes during the 2019 summer transfer window comes as a major blow to Manchester United as the Red Devils had sighted the Portuguese midfielder as a great replacement for the recently departed Ander Herrera. Bruno Fernandes showcased his versatility on a number of occasions in his latest season with Sporting Lisbon registering a total of 20 goals and 13 assists in 33 completed matches. Quite an impressive statistic considering that the Portuguese player operates in a central midfield position which does not necessarily allow too many opportunities for a shot at the opponents' goal. While Manchester City still sits in pole position as the favorite to sign Bruno Fernandez this summer, all hope might not be gone for Manchester United in the race to sign Bruno Fernandes. While earlier reports suggested Fernandez was destined for Etihad, recent comments from the player himself have put a massive question mark over the players future.

"I don’t have the slightest idea at the moment. I have a contract and everything that will happen it will have to come in time. I'm focused on the ambitions of Sporting. I always said that I was an ambitious player and from a stage very early, I have a dream of playing in England. Now any other Championship, Germany, Spain, and Italy are very good and ambitious but as I said, I'm good at Sporting and now I'm focused on the cup.”

The comment from the Portuguese midfielder has cast a huge question over the midfielder's future as to where he will be playing his football next season. With the player strongly expected to be heading to Manchester City on the back of a deal said to have been completed between Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City as early as March 2019, the new comment has cast away a large portion of expectation concerning Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City. While Bruno Fernandes might have certain quality and flair to his game that makes him appear to be a good fit as a Manchester City player, the versatility and dogged performance on the pitch also makes Bruno Fernandes a perfect fit as a Manchester United player and a perfect fit into the new system of football Manchester United is trying to cultivate moving forward under Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

Uncertainty remains present in the case of Bruno Fernandes’s future. While some signs points to Fernandes heading to the Blue part of Manchester and other signs point to Fernandes heading to the red part of Manchester by the end of 2019 summer transfer window. However, the third option of Bruno Fernandes remaining at his present club Sporting Lisbon next season still remains a possibility with the Sporting Lisbon side not hiding their clear intent on holding on to Bruno Fernandes past the duration of the 2019 summer transfer window. Unfortunately, due to minor financial issues faced by Sporting Lisbon at this point in time, Sporting Lisbon might still have to unwilfully let go of a number of players on their roaster and Bruno Fernandes might be one player whom will leave Sporting Lisbon simply due to financial. Be that as it may, Manchester United are prepared to launch a £60 million bid to beat Manchester City’s already activated £50 million bid. The race is on and at the end of the summer, the decision might come down to which club wants Bruno Fernandez more?
