MANCHESTER UNITED MIGHT READY TO RECLAIM A TOP FOUR SPOT

The transfer activity for Manchester United has been handled the way Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer felt comfortable handling it.

The Summer Transfer window might not have unfolded exactly the way the Manchester United manager or the Manchester United fans wanted especially considering the fact that Manchester United was able to sign a total of three players, it’s fair to say that the 2019 summer transfer window will not be one the Manchester United fans will look back on with fond memories. Nevertheless, the summer transfer window is over, the 2019/20 season has kicked off and there is nothing else Manchester United football club can do except look forward and work to be successful come end of the 2019/20 season.

The exciting new season officially kicked off last weekend as Manchester United hosted an anticipated, difficult, Chelsea team under new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard. The Blues, unlike Manchester United, made use of the summer season to make a few changes such as parting ways with last seasons manager Maurizio Sarri and appointing the clubs retired veteran in Frank Lampard as the new man to take up the managerial mantel. The blues also used the summer season to make big changes to their backline such as losing one of the clubs most revered defender in David Luiz and also losing one of Chelsea's most prolific attackers in Eden Hazzard. While the match against Chelsea gave football fans a look at the direction Chelsea will be heading this season, the topic on the discussion is Manchester United and whether or not last weeks match was good enough to convince spectators of Manchester United's potential to succeed this season.

The Manchester United team were more than excellent during their first match of the season, from stifling Chelsea's attacking opportunities to creating terrific counter-attacking chances. From Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford both taking their chances in front of goal, to the young Daniel James coming on from the bench to make his Manchester United debut and capping off his debut with an excellent goal to boot. From Aaron Wanbasaka’s excellent performance at right back to Manchester United's new center-back Harry McGuire introducing himself to the Manchester United crowd with some good old fashioned defensive work at the back. From Paul Pogbas quality performance at the midfield, David De Gea making top draw saves when he was called upon to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford both scoring top quality goals, Manchester United were simply exquisite last weekend.

While the verdict might be a little bit premature especially at this early stage of the season but from the performance, the club showed on the first match of the season it’s fair to say that Manchester United are on track to claim a top-four spot at the Premier League table come end of the season. Coming into the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign the talk around Manchester United was centered around Manchester United's lack of signings and the clubs inadequate attempt to strengthen the Manchester United further during the summer transfer window. Can this Manchester United team play stellar football, will the players be enough to create some intricate passes and play some free-flowing, creative football? Seems most of these questions were answered after strikes from Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Marcus Rashford all landed in the back of the opponents net with players such as Paul Pogba, Andreas Perrera and Jesse Lingard all playing important roles on the day. Is Manchester United ready to reclaim a spot on the top four positions? Too early to say. But judging from the way Manchester United started the season, the Red Devils just might find themselves in fourth place or even further up come to the end of the season.

The first game of the season and Manchester United starts off with a massive victory.  After last weekends victory over Chelsea, Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjear was asked if he was excited about the performance and what his though! its were regarding the result and the manager had this to say “Of cause! You will take a win first game because it’s about points. But then again the performance second half was very pleasing and I think that was the big plus. Coming into half time I think we were a bit lucky because they pinned us back, created chances but we settled a few nerves and a couple of other things at half time and I think in the second half we performed really well.” asked about the critics labeled on Marcus Rashford, the critics saying that Marcus Rashford not being ready to be able to live up to the expectations put on him about being the main man at Manchester United and that Marcus Rashford never would have been the main man under Sir Alex Ferguson, Solskjaer was asked what his opinions were on the matter to which the Manchester United manager replied saying: “ I think Marcus is developing and his developing really well. You see his stature now, he`s body, he is capable of playing more I`m sure this year and yes he struggled with his ankle last season but this year I expect more from him but the whole squad we are stronger, we are fitter and we more than capable of lasting in-game.

The manager was certainly not exaggerating about the team's performance last weekend and should Manchester United continue to put up such high-quality performance for the majority of the current season, this Manchester United can possibly be the team to deliver a major trophy back to Old Trafford this season.
