WHAT WILL NEXT WEEKENDS VISIT FROM LEICESTER CITY HAVE IN STORE MANCHESTER UNITED AT OLD TRAFFORD ?

Another weekend of the Premier League will be here once again next weekend. Yes, another weekend of fast phase, high-quality football played between eager teams willing to put everything on the line to gain three valuable points leading to a chance to climb higher up the Premier League table come end of next weekend.

To rephrase the words of Manchester United legend and current Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer  “football is all taking your chances”.  Manchester United have unfortunately found themselves in an unfortunate trap of losing grip of each 3 valuable points nearly gained by the Red Devils only to come out at the end of the last three matches either with a single point or no point at all. Manchester United have cultivated a positive attitude of playing each match so far this season with high quality and increased the tempo on the field. However, Manchester United seemed to have retained the habit of not being able to put the ball in the opponents net as well as picking up the habit of conceding goals more frequently. These are problems Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer is clearly aware of as he addressed during last two weekends press conference after the Southampton match but the question is: Has the problem of conceding more goals been resolved?

As a center back here once in a while you do lose a header and sometimes it’s just in those patches that it costs the team. Last week, we lost one header, it was a flick on and they scored. Today we lost a header and it became a goal. So that’s, you don’t expect the defender to win every single one( header). It's not like it was against a little boy either this Vestergaard. We should have done better, stopped the cross. But it was just those are the ten seconds that they created something and apart from that, I thought Victor didn’t do well.”

Clearly, the issue Manchester United needs to resolve still lies at the heart of Manchester United's defense as the situation from last season remains unresolved. Last season and the two seasons before last season, Manchester United was plagued with defensive hazards match after match costing the team valuable points in the last two seasons. While Manchester United's previous manager Jose Mourinho did not necessarily have an abundance of opportunity to solve the teams' defensive problems due to the supposed lack of proper funding during Mourinho's tenure, current Manchester United Ole Gunner Solskjaer really can not afford the luxury of blaming insufficient funding during the transfer window for the clubs unsteady defense.

Manager Ole Gunner Solskjear was given a financial jackpot worth 250 million pounds this past summer and yet Manchester United spent a total of 150 million to acquire the clubs three new signings in Aaron Wan Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry McGuire. Simple math suggests that while Manchester United's three new players have been fantastic thus far, Manchester United still had a good opportunity to improve the teams' defensive strength by signing at least one more defender which Manchester United failed to capitalize on, hence the reason why Manchester United's defense remains shaky.

The Red Devils welcome traveling Leicester City team to Old Trafford next Saturday weekend and the Manchester United fans will be eager to see how the Manchester United team will respond to the disappointing news in regards to the two dropped points at Saint Mary's stadium last weekend. Manchester United will, unfortunately, be without star striker Anthony Martial who continues to nurse the knock he picked up in the match against Southampton and will miss next weekends match for rehabilitation. With Anthony Martial sidelined for the next couple of matches, this might be the perfect opportunity for manager Ole Gunner Solskjear to hand the role of starting striker to young Mason Greenwood who continues to pick up match minutes here and there during the early part of the season but have not yet featured as part of Manchester United's starting 11 teams as of yet.

Can Mason Greenwood carry the mantle of Manchester United's main goal source at least for the next couple of matches? Frankly, the Premier League is a difficult competition to expect consistent positive performance from any player regardless of the level of experience under said players belt. Considering the level of difficulty that comes with the Premier League competition, it will be understandable if Manchester United struggles to find goals from their center forward position in the course of next weekends match against Leicester City. With that being said, Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer has been very consistent in his resolve and belief that a good number of the young players on the Manchester United youth team are ready to step up and take their spot as part of Manchester United senior team.

Come next weekend, the spotlight will be on the match against Leicester City but the main attraction will be to ascertain if either or both youngsters Mason Greenwood and possibly Angel Gomez makes the starting XI or makes significant appearances off the bench for Manchester United. Ole Gunner Solskjear came in last year as interim manager of Manchester United and right of the bat the plan to boost Manchester United's first teams' performance the pitch appeared to be to promote a hand full of players from the junior level to become 1st team players but Solskjaer seemed to have full authority as interim manager.

The general conversations around Manchester United continue to support the idea that Solskjaers’ plan of attack for the current season will include players from the youth team and Solskjaer is tipped to kick start his plan of including a little more youth players from the Manchester United youth team in his matchday squad next weekend against Leicester City.
