MANCHESTER UNITED FANS HAD ENOUGH OR STILL HOPING FOR A GOOD END OF THE SEASON ?

Only two weeks to go until the January transfer window comes to a close and the current status of Manchester United football club appears to clearly confirm the declaration made in December 2019 by manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer regarding Manchester United transfer window.

There will be no player signed by the Illustrious Red team from Manchester during the January transfer window. In response to the news made by Manchester United to keep their distance from the January transfer window, the Manchester United fan base appear to be resigned to the reality of Manchester United willing to remain on a transfer window drought for the rest of January 2020 and embark on signing any new players during the summer transfer window instead.

The idea of Manchester United fans ultimately accepting the decision made by Manchester United to keep away from signing any player in January might be viewed as a rather shocking response to the majority of football lovers worldwide especially considering the history of the Manchester United fan base in regards to both the January transfer window and the summer transfer windows of the past.

Manchester United is a club that has always delivered on each high goal the club has set for themselves and this has subsequently been the bar set by the clubs fan base. Because of the high expectation coming from the fan base, during the recent struggles faced by Manchester United, Manchester United fans continue to find life difficult in terms of accepting the idea of Manchester United football club not being the elite football club it once was completely difficult to diggest

“ I cannot accept the mediocrity anymore.”  “We literally looked like schoolboys out there”.

Manchester United fans certainly have not been shy with their words recently and with good reason too. Except the recent loss at the Manchester Derby during the Carabao cup competition where the loss can be understandable due to the number of important players currently absent for Manchester United due to the current injuries that deplete the Manchester United team, Manchester United have continued to struggle to be a creative force against any team, in general, this season which has unfortunately been the downfall for the Red Devils at the moment.

So where do the fans stand in terms of supporting the team for the rest of the season after observing the current status of the team? Are the fans on board with Manchester United's current struggles in hopes of the team improving as the season unfolds or are the fans demanding change right now?

The reality is that for a fan base, acceptance without any type of defiant reaction to the reality that the football team you support with a high passion is suddenly constantly struggling is unrealistic. The idea of a fan base is to support a team towards achieving success on the football pitch. Unfortunately for Manchester United fans, unending success for a single team is never an advisable goal to be set by any football team.

Football is a competitive sport played by multiple teams in each league with each team fighting to achieve the goal of surpassing every other team in the league and become the eventual champions for the season. With each team always improving through new player signings and new tactics each season, the expectation of one team monopolizing the Premier League crown every season is unrealistic. There will be droughts and difficult seasons each club might face and that period of drought is exactly what Manchester United is witnessing at the moment.

With that being said, the signs of frustration and signs of disappointment currently observed through the reactions of the Manchester United fans is not necessarily a wrong response. According to the understanding of the ManchesterUnitedPost, Manchester United fans are, to a certain degree, of the understanding that the club has lost their edge in terms of competing in the big stage and returning to championship-caliber will be a long and difficult hurdle to skip past. As a result, Manchester United fans seem to have accepted the current reality that  the Red Devils will not register positive results against top opponents. Difficult pill to swallow but understandable. However, accepting that the Red Devils will continue to  drop points against “subpar” teams, that is a totally different story.

“It just did not look like we had an idea of how to get through. But credit to the opposition, Everton, they defended well. When a team comes against Manchester United and the team is ready to sit back and not try down our (Manchester United) defense, it’s tough!.

The above statement was delivered by one Manchester United fan on a popular youtube channel dedicated to all things Manchester United called the UnitedStand. Another fan went on to deliver his opinion after the disappointing 2-0 loss Manchester United had received at the hands of Watford back in December 2019 and the fan went on to deliver his opinion regarding Manchester United's performance but his thoughts were summarized by this sentence:

``Tactically we haven't even got a chance against the smaller team and it’s happening every single week so what chance do we have going forward? ``

There you have it. Perfectly summed up straight from the lips of the Manchester United fans who have witnessed first hand just how uninspiring Manchester United performances have been so far this season. Inconsistency has been Manchester United's Achilles heel this season and Manchester United's current stance on this season Premier League is poised to be affected by the teams' struggle to achieve a healthy level of positive results consistently.

However with only half a season played and the second half of the 2019/20 season yet to be played, the situation facing Manchester United appears to suggest the fans have not lost complete fate on Manchester United's ability to break into the top four of the Premier League table. After bearing witness to Manchester United inconsistency during the first half of the current season, the idea around Manchester United points towards the Red Devils not having a stronghold of how exactly the team can achieve their goal of securing a top-four spot in the Premier Table this season.

However with the second half of the season finally here and with just four months to go until the end of the season, Manchester United still has a couple of months to turn their performance from a subpar one to a performance worthy of a top-four Premier League team.

With the season halfway through, Manchester United will have a maximum of four months to change their stance in this seasons Premier League table but the Red Devils must maintain a healthy level of positive performance within the next three months to jump straight into one of the available top four spots of the Premier League table.
