MANCHESTER UNITED TODAY : DIFFERENT ACTIONS EXPECTED TO UNFOLD AT OLD TRAFFORD IN 2021

What will the year 2020 bring for Manchester United? Pain? Frustration? Joy? Will Manchester United do business in the transfer window in the current month of January 2020? And will 2020 be the year that Manchester United make their long-overdue return the Champions League competition?

Lots of questions to be addressed suggests that there will be several topics to discuss in today's article. So sit back, relax and enjoy today's article as the ManchesterUnitedPost attempts to address all three of tonight's questions concerning what is expected to transpire inside Manchester United in the current of January as well as everything expected to unfold in Old Trafford in the year 2020.

September 2019 saw Manchester United open the new season with technically the same group of players who had ended the 2018/19 season for Manchester United. Yes, to the naked eye Manchester United did lose a portion of players who were involved in the 2018/19 squad with notable absentees being Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. with the inclusion of new signings in Daniel James and Harry McGuire into the current Manchester United squad the Red Devils currently dawn the look of a stronger, attacking, squad under manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer this season but upon further investigation, the Red Devils might actually be overachieving and surpassing expectation once again under Ole Gunner Solskjaer this season.

The verdict? More signings needed in the year 2020. But will they actually be more signings made at least in January 2020? Let's address the latest transfer window situation Manchester United are currently linked with. The first name on the list for Manchester United coming into January 2020 Erling Harland. Full name Erling Braut Haaland is the 19-year-old English Striker who currently plays his professional football for FC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian League. Currently valued at around £51 million all around Europe, the verdicts appear to be that almost all elite clubs around Europe have geared up for the battle of signing the 19-year-old English striker and as per the demands of a large number of Manchester United fans.

Manchester United appeared poised to battle a lot of top clubs for the English strikers' signature in January 2020. While there had been no official bids yet to be made by Manchester United before Harland pledged his allegiance to Burrussia Durtmond of Germany by signing a massive 4-year contract with the BVB club.

Early reports suggested that the Red Devils had been the team leading in the race against other teams in Europe to sign the coveted English striker in January 2020. However, no official bid had been handed in by Manchester United to club RB Salzburg as the January transfer window was not scheduled to open until January 2, 2020, at the latest. But there had been some major signs that suggest a deal between Manchester United and RB Salzburg was all but weeks away from being completed before Borussia Dortmund made an early move before the start of the January transfer window to seal a deal for the English striker.

Had Manchester United and RB Salzburg agreed on a deal, the 19-year-old striker would have been the first official signing completed by Manchester United as a January signing but the announcement and presentation of Erling Haaland would have been expected to be delivered to the public in January 2020 and not before.

12 million pounds was the price Manchester United had to provide this January if the club was serious about stealing the in-demand striker away from Erlng Haland previous club RB Salzburg. With elite European clubs such as AC Millan, Real Madrid, and even Bayern Munich all expected to raise each of their level of interest in signing the current 19-year-old English striker from RB Salzburg before  Erling Haarland recent move to Borussia Dortmund was finalized, Manchester United had a great opportunity to convince Erling Haland to come over to Manchester. However, recent developments show the Red Devils let the opportunity of signing the English striker in January 2020 slip by quite rapidly.

Building up the desire to sign the player, acting on the intention to sign 19-year-old Erling Haland away from the previous club RB Salzburg and waiting patiently for the deal to develop might not have been the challenging part of the Haland saga for the Red Devils. After all, looking back on Manchester United's recent history of signing players, the Red Devils have accumulated enough experience in the art of waiting patiently for a transfer deal to be completed.

The signing of Paul Pogba and Harry McGuire being the most recent example of just how good Manchester United patience and resilience can pay off at the end of the day. The most challenging part for Manchester United would have had to overcome to sign Erling Haland in January 2020 would have certainly arrived in the form of Erling Haland current agent Mino Raiola. Manchester United must be very acquainted with Mino Raiola by now.

The Dutch agent has a history of being an extremely demanding, tough, businessman and Manchester United might have had to buckle up and brace themselves to battle against the outrageous transfer fees set super-agent Mino Raiola if Manchester United is intent on sealing a deal for the services of English striker Erling Haland in January 2020.

Truth be told, looking at the Manchester United team at the moment, the Red Devils are not really dawning the look of a team in desperate need of a top striker at the moment. Yes, there is an argument to be made that Manchester United have struggled to create goals and to score goals against the so-called “lesser teams” in the English Premier League competition during the current 2019/20 season.

Matches against teams such as Brighton, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton and Watford (to name a few) where Manchester United has struggled to score goals against opponents might come to mind as reasons why Manchester United might need a new striker. But from an analytical standpoint, Manchester United has truly struggled not because of lack of attackers but because the Red Devils just are not a creative force in the central midfield area.

Realistically, rather than splashing an enormous amount of money on signing yet another quality attacker, Manchester United might want to take the route of investing the January 2020 transfer budget into signing another quality creative midfielder who can step in to complement Paul Pogba in the midfield or step up as the main creative source in the midfield should Paul Pogba be missing in action due to injury in the future.
