MANCHESTER UNITED TO EMBARK ON YET ANOTHER MANAGERIAL FLIP OR ARE THE RED DEVILS STICKING WITH THE MAN ON THE WHEEL ?

Is qualification for next seasons UEFA Champions League competition the ultimate game-changer that decides the fate of Ole Gunner Solskjaer as Manchester United manager?

Hardly a handful of football lovers whom have been dedicated to the always fascinating English Premier League competition will honestly address this question with the answer no simply because looking back at the difficult situation Manchester United have gone through during the current 2019/20 season and considering the reality of Manchester United's continuous desire to retain a high ranking as one of Europes top clubs, there can be little doubt that given the circumstance Manchester United currently find themselves in which is consistently failing to secure one out of the three most relevant trophies in Europe for the past seven years, frustration will continue to boil over at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for current Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer should qualify for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League competition fail to manifest for Manchester United, the Red Devils appear ready to trigger yet another managerial transition before the start of the 2020/21 season. The big question that should be asked and will be addressed as much as possible in today’s article is: who should really take the fall if Manchester United fall short in securing a spot in the  Premier League table?

Let's look back at the start of the season. During the 2019 summer transfer window, Manchester United had already been established as a team that needed renovating in three major aspects of the team, the central defensive position, the central midfield position, and the center attack. As a result, the 2019 summer transfer window witnessed Manchester United secure the complete early signing of English center-back Harry McGuire who has gone on to become nothing short of a sensation during his first season with Manchester United football club.

Undoubtedly, Manchester United has done a fantastic job at strengthening their backline before the start of the 2019/20 season. However, while basking in the glory of finding a solution to yet another part of the team strengthened, Manchester United failed to complete the rest of the project which was signing one extra quality midfielder and one extra quality striker as contingencies for eventual fatigue and eventual injuries which should have been anticipated to happen during a long season.

At this point of the 2019/20 season, Ole Gunner Solskjaer appears to be flourishing with new man Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings at the heart of the Manchester United midfield, Manchester United still continue to struggle to find a continuous flow of creativity in the midfield especially against teams who have recognized that at the moment Bruno Fernandes is the main source for creating goal-scoring opportunity. There is no doubt that Ole Gunner Solskjaer is partly to be blamed for Manchester United missing out on signing a third quality midfielder before the start of the 2019/20 season to act as security measures should Manchester United experience injuries to some of the center midfield players currently on the Manchester United roaster but there is also a case to be made that should Manchester United secure Champions League football at the end of the 2019/20 season manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer will have done enough to earn himself an extension as Manchester United manager.

Consider this, two seasons under the managerial reign of previous Manchester United Jose Mourinho, Manchester United was operating with a team which manager Jose Mourinho himself had admitted that at the time the level of midfielders found within the Manchester United squad was not enough to outperform teams such as Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea in a race for the Premier League trophy. Fast forward two seasons after the departure of Jose Mourinho and the board of directors not only waited two extra seasons to provide the new manager with a strong squad but Manchester United find themselves debating between two ideas of deciding to either let off the most important players in Manchester United squad or convince the midfielder to leave this summer.

Seems quite obvious that the blame for Manchester United's shortfall regarding the level of trophies won within the past decade is wrongly being placed on the shoulders of one player Paul Pogba and on the shoulders of current Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer instead of being the blame being placed on the shoulders of the men and women found in Manchester United board of directors list.

As the 2020 summer season rapidly approaches there is still no serious conversation regarding the possibility of Ole Gunner Solskjaer losing his job before the start of the 2020/21 season. Manchester United appear to still remain firmly in favor of backing current manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer as the club progresses towards the 2020/21 season with a representative from the Manchester United board of directors making a clear, definitive, statement of Manchester United's plans to back manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer through the long haul as Manchester United continue to build towards returning to not only to competing in UEFA Champions League competition but also winning prestigious competitions such as the English Premier League trophy and the UEFA Champions League trophy as well.

Here is the situation as things stand for Manchester United, the club is on a rebuilding process and at the moment the rebuilding process seems to be developing well very rapidly with talks of one of Manchester United's most influential midfielder Paul Pogba now rumored to be open to a change of heart and commit a new long term future to Manchester United. Can manager Ole Gunner Solsjaer take his newly rejuvenated Manchester United side with the inclusion of the club soon to return injured star Paul Pogba all the way into next seasons UEFA Champions League competition and all the way to winning multiple trophies in the future?

There are no guarantees in terms of the presence of both Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in this Manchester United team for the distant future will lead to one or two major trophies for Manchester United. But what does appear to be very possible for Manchester United is that with the presence of current hero Bruno Fernandes, the return of an injured superstar Paul Pogba and should the entire Manchester United team continue to deliver good performance on the pitch, the future looks bright for Ole Gunner Solskjear as Manchester United manager.
