MANCHESTER UNITED TALK: THE WINS & THE LOSSES FOR THE CLUB HEADING INTO THE LAST STAGES OF THE 2020 SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW

Is Sergei Regulon here or is he still on his way to Manchester United? Did the Red Devils secure any more signings before the end of the 2020 summer transfer window after sealing a big 40 million deal for top midfielder Donny Van de Beak?

Just some of the few questions still left unanswered and as everyone prepares themselves for the exciting return of football happening this weekend, the question of just how much more signings will Manchester United complete before the start of the 2020/21 football season lingers around in the minds of some of the people invested, not just in Manchester United football club, but people invested in seeing the beautiful game of football played on a high level. Manchester United has been marked down as a club in need of a few more quality played signed during this past 2020 summer transfer window. Even after completing a terrific deal for Donny Van Beak this summer, there was still that lingering thought of can the Red Devils secure one more final signing before the 2020 summer transfer window officially closes? Let's dive right into this topic and find out what happened at Old Trafford at the final stages of the 2020 summer transfer window.

Since the start of the 2020 summer transfer window back in August 2020 and even before the 2020 summer transfer window officially opened in the middle of August 2020, Manchester United had been linked with a handful of players all projected to seal a move to Old Trafford by the end of the summer season. While some of the players linked with a move to Manchester United this summer was not a good fit for the club because 1) the Majority of the players linked with a move to Old Trafford did not match the level of quality expected from a Manchester United player and 2) the price demanded by the player’s current club was too overwhelming for the Red Devils to meet.

Never the less, on this part in today’s article the attention will be centered on how effective will the new signings be and how costly will some of the missed opportunity to sign at least two more players be for Manchester United considering that some mid-table clubs across Europe with good players were willing to do business in the 2020 summer season?

One player who could be seen as a missed opportunity for Manchester United during the 2020 summer transfer window might be current Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish. “Mediocre player,” A player with a lot of baggage,” and “not the right fit”. Call him what you will but the one label that will unjustly be placed on the England international central midfielder is untalented.

Jack Grealish is definitely well deserving of all the recognition the English midfielder had been receiving from clubs such as Manchester United and north London club Tottenham Hotspurs. Before signing his new contract with Aston Villa back in 2018 which meant the English midfielder is tied to “The Lions” until the year 2023, the idea of the Aston Villa captain being linked with a move away from Aston Villa this 2020 summer season appear a little bit far-fetched to actually manifest into reality.

Should Manchester United had persevered and signed the English midfielder despite the expensive price tag demanded by Aston Villa, the transfer might not have been the worst business in the world for Manchester United to accomplish. Jack Grealish is a player who can play the various position in the midfield and would have undoubtedly maintained high creativity in Manchester United’s midfield. However, comparing the qualities between Jack Grealish and Manchester United’s recent signing Donny Van de Beak, Manchester United’s scouting team appears to have made the right call in presenting Donny Van de Beak as the better option to sign instead of Jack Grealish the 2020 summer transfer window. With that being said, the idea to overlook signing Jack Grealish might be filed under the win column for Manchester United this 2020 summer transfer window season.

The impact of recent Manchester United signing Donny Van der Beak will certainly be felt across England and all across the European continent as the new Premier League and the new UEFA Champions League season prepares to kick off in late September 2020. The Red Devils have already seen the benefits of a new, hungry, talented player in Bruno Fernandes expressing himself all through last season and aiding Manchester United to become an all-round better football club in the process. With the new inclusion of Donny Van der Beak into manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer's current squad, the Red Devils might just have given themselves a better chance of possibly making a deep run in the Champions League and possibly securing one of the top three spots next season.

With Paul Pogba expected to be afforded more rests next season, a player like Donny Van der Beak is just what Manchester United needs to make sure the level of creativity does not drop even when other creative players such as Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, and Paul Pogba are either not performing at their best or are unable to play.

Will Manchester United sign one more attacking playing before the end of the 2020 summer transfer window? Difficult to say. As of the 9th of September 2020, the main prospect to be signed by Manchester United for the remainder of the 2020 summer transfer window appear to be Spanish left-back Seige Reguilon for 18-22 Million. With Manchester United recently sealing the deal for Donny Van Beak, a deal for Seige Reguilon might not be too far behind.
