Today’s article will turn the attention to the very exciting Barclays Women’s Soccer League to keep the readers updated with what’s been going on around the Women's Soccer League and how manager Casey Stoney has progressed with the talented Manchester United women's team.

The end of the 2020 Women’s Soccer League season saw Manchester United finish up in 2nd place, a few points behind last season’s champions Manchester City. A team that obviously happens to be very bitter rivals Manchester United. After the end of last season, during the 2020 summer transfer window, the information received here at Manchester United Channel was that Manchester United will undoubtedly back manager Casey Stoney during the transfer window in the offseason with the intent from Manchester United to strengthen manager Casey Stoney’s side with the of supporting the current ambitions harbored by the female Red Devils to surpass the progress the team made of finishing 4th last season.

While the Red Devils ended 2020/21 coming off short of the club’s target of securing a spot for the 2021 Women’s Champions League competition, Manchester United appear to have already set their eyes on the next prize which appears to be not only qualifying for the 2022/23 Women’s Champions League competition but also clinching the 2021 Women's League Trophy.

Can Manchester United complete both goals this season?

Well, let’s tackle the first question which is, is the goal of winning the league an achievable goal for manager Casey Stones sides this season?

To be frank the answer is both a yes and no response.

Here is why:

We saw the Manchester United women's team prepare themselves for the season by making a handful of signings during the 2020 summer transfer window. In fairness, the fact that the club was able to provide sufficient income for manager Cassey Stoney to invest in the 2020 summer transfer window was a big boost for the Manchester United women’s team because the extra income meant that manager Cassey Stoney could invest in strengthening her squad sufficiently to a level higher than the impressive level the Red Devils were operating with last season.

Worked to near perfection with the Red Devils already playing Red hot in the early part of the season. With the exclusion of the recent loss to Chelsea, the Red Devils have emerged from the gates all guns blazing winning eight of the eleven games played so far this season.

As a result, the Red Devils have pleaded themselves in a stunning position to clinch the WSL trophy at the end of the 2020/21 season currently sitting in 2nd place behind Chelsea in the WSL table with both teams tied 26 points but Chelsea leads the table with a game in hand.

Few mistakes are seen last season such as the decision to award quality midfielder Jesse Sigsworth a consistent role of regularly appearing off the benched seemed to be an area that might have been affecting Manchester United’s ability to fulfill their trophy ambitions.

However, with Manchester United’s current squad rotation providing equal playing times to all squad players, Manchester United looks like a well-balanced team that is now clearly making a strong run for the WSL trophy this season.

Can the Red Devils deliver this season?

Well, the question pretty much answers itself simply because this is a Manchester United, we are talking about and the level of expectancy for every Manchester United team rests on delivering one major trophy every two seasons. So, dealing with the question of this Manchester United team delivering a trophy from the standpoint of every Manchester United expected to have enough quality in the team to deliver a trophy then yes, the Manchester United women’s team can most certainly deliver a trophy this season.

However, if we look at the game this season, in all honesty, from the evidence of what the Red Devils have shown so far, Manchester United looks imbalanced and that might be as a result of fatigue from players who are constantly on the starting XI.

Players such as Alessia Russo, Tobin Heath, Leah Galton, and Ella Toone have certainly seen a bulk of action from last season leading on to the early part of this season. The concern over massive match minutes distributed unevenly is certainly not raised with the intent of distributing blame on the manager for uneven match minute distribution.

Instead, the reason behind this conversation over match minutes is to present one important point which is stress is a factor that most managers most avoid on their players because stress is the main source of long-term injuries and stress can lead to misjudgment or lack of focus on the pitch.

Manchester United has certainly, consistently, handed out a lot of spots in the starting IX to certain players such as Leah Galton, Ella Toone, Tobin Heath, and Millie Turner to name a few. While these players have certainly earned the right to a starting role for Manchester United, the concern here is based on the impact of awarding lob sided match minutes will have on the physical fitness and the mental fitness of the Manchester United players as we continue to make our way deep into the 2020/21 season.

Manchester United are still on course to the top of the table in the 2021 Women's soccer league table and with ten more games left to play at the very least, manager Cassey Stoney remains on course to lead her team to secure the WSL trophy at the end of the season.

However, smart decisions involving equal, fluctuating, match minute must continue to be set up within this Manchester United team to retain the option of finding quality from different- multiple sources within the current Manchester United women's team.
